Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Yeah, not hard to believe that the episodes are upscaled SD episodes with bad filters thrown over them. The fact that there's 10 episodes per disc not only on this set, but the last BRs as well, was what I fully expected.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

But some of the apologism in this thread is getting a bit ridiculous. A lot of the posts come off as sunk cost mentality. These people sank a lot of cash into this product, and bought into the hype. That's a really powerful thing. Even then, I can't be too harsh. I remember being young, stupid, and...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

So, considering that these have the same exact linework and dnr issues as the previous Season BDs, as well as the same strange Nathan Johnson recap music replacement, and the same random out of focus episodes, is it reasonable to conclude that the Season BDs were remastered in full frame, then crop...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Honestly, just have the discs in regular cases like those & convert the booklet artwork to insets for the sleeves, get rid of the half-assed art book & figure, & I'd buy those all at once. I'm cool with just regular BR cases & artwork. If the masters weren't smeared or badly color-corrected, I'd sa...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Was KHII or KHIII's vast like Kakarot's? Obviously not, but KH is usually focused on one to a few characters per game max as opposed to DB, which can be focused on multiple characters at once that aren't Goku. Jesus why are discussing this to this level of detail? I meant it in the broad sense that...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Why would you want this game to play like 2FM? Like you guys are awful. Sora doesn't fight like a Z fighters. I meant it in the sense the combat is super fluid and has various combo options. It doesn't get boring. Obviously it wouldn't be Goku with a sword in the shape of a key. You do know that on...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Completely forgot to ask this. How's the brightness & color saturation? Every time I watched clips of the previous BRs on YouTube, the brightness was always cranked up too high & the colors were oversaturated, which always make my eyes hurt to no end. It's certainly better than the previous BR's. T...

At least FUNi knows their remasters are cheap & price that shit accordingly.
Well, except for the Black Bricks.
Well, yeah, but I'm talking regular piece of shit releases, not limited edition crowd-funded piece of shit releases.

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

Yeah, if you're gonna charge that much for an upscale, that's a bit much. At least FUNi knows their remasters are cheap & price that shit accordingly. Granted, Selecta Vision also hasn't had 9,001 rereleases of the same show in the last 2 decades, but still.

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

Like, FUNi has consistently given us all bottom of the barrel type releases for 12 years outside of the Z DBoxes & the levels, so, maybe it's me having the bar set so low, but I think these certainly could've been worse. It just seems like some light DVNR & making the frames focused as opposed to ha...

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

Well, at least there's some diversity of the artists featured. I just thought it would be Yamamuro all over with his promo art, or art that follows his designs closely.

Re: Original Dragon Ball anime to be released on Blu Ray in Spain

I mean, it doesn't look TOO too bad. Certainly not FUNimation-level awful. It's certainly in better focus, but it's not really that special compared to the Dragon Box masters.

Worst. Supervillain. Ever.
Yeah, he has the powers of early 5 Seconds of Summer.

For context, they ripped off a TON of other bands on their first 2 albums & half a baker's dozen EPs from 5 years ago. I'm surprised they didn't get sued considering they never credited them.

Re: Funimations 30th anniversary collectible home video release

I don't think people realize that licensees of works can only use materials provided by the companies they license the content from for promo materials. FUNi can't just use any art not provided or approved by Toei. Clearly the artwork was commissioned by FUNi & drawn up by someone at the Toei staff,...

Re: "Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot" Official Discussion Thread

Cool. The mental training looks like it's a very DB oriented version of the Data Organization XIII fights from Kingdom Hearts 2 (the Bonyu training is literally a Data fight though). I mean, stealing from one of the greatest Action RPGs of all time isn't a bad thing. Not at bad thing at all. Now ju...

Sorry if these are late. I wrote these a bit ago, but forgot to hit "submit." The rest went to funimation staff to scalp on Ebay 😂. Is anyone actually buying them for $1000 on there yet?
I fucking hope not. I'm sticking with Kai for now. Problems aside with looking soft & some of the redrawn/rotoscoped scenes, it's still the best Z has looked on Blu-Ray.
