I find that there is a lot of cynicism and negativity on the forums. It's kind of depressing sometimes, so I need to take a break from it at times.
The solution to that is to not go into threads where you know other users will say that sort of stuff a lot. Works for me!

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 13 - DB episodes 56-60 (CURRENT WEEK)

Their 2001 dub of Dragon Ball seemed partially an exercise in “well here’s more Dragon Ball Z related stuff we can treat it as a more light hearted prequel ala Young Hercules probably won’t do as well but a lot of DBZ fans will still watch” Yeah, Funi's treatment of DB is much more as a Z prequel s...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 13 - DB episodes 56-60 (CURRENT WEEK)

So basically, if he'd have never done the first 190 or so chapters and it began with Z? Yes, that's the joke. Fukanaga apparently doesn't think very highly of the original Dragon Ball anime and didn't want to do the 2002 dub. Wow, so he seriously didn't want to release the rest of the original seri...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 13 - DB episodes 56-60 (CURRENT WEEK)

Anyways I doubt that would have been a problem in dubbing Dr.Slump. You would think Funimation would have licensed it and just been all "From the creator of Dragon Ball Z!!!!" You kidding? Fukunaga would prefer if Toriyama had just started writing manga with Raditz and nothing else to make his life...

Re: How do you ''see'' the forum?

I see it as both, leaning more towards the academic/analytical side. That's kinda par for the course when the norm is that you have to "dig" around to learn about the authentic Dragon Ball, which by its very nature means you're comparing and contrasting with the western adaptations we were all almos...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 13 - DB episodes 56-60 (CURRENT WEEK)

I seem to remember the Digimon dub sidestepping the blatantly cartoonish poop by calling it other stuff. The Funi dub of Dragon Ball also kind of ignored that there was sentient poop in Penguin Village and called it something else. In the Dr. Slump episodes of Dragon Ball, I don't think anyone ever...

Pretty sure the Kanzenshuu labels are just based on the Dragon Box booklets.
Huh, YOU'RE RIGHT! I just checked the Dragon Book from my OG DBox and it's right there, Pages 40 and 41!

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

Personally I'd love to hear the reasonings from Kanzenshuu staff, too! It didn't really come across in my original post but I was kinda-sorta hoping to pitch a change to the manga/anime arc structure regarding this arc.

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

Even using your definition the RRA are no longer a dominant and central presence. There's also no rule about the timeframe of a story arc. They were a dominant presence immediately preceding the Baba arc. "Dominance" doesn't just disappear instantly, it has lasting influence. Certainly over an arc ...

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

My definition is that an Arc is an overall storyline, while a Saga is a portion within it. So for, me the Red Ribbon Arc is made up of the Silver/White, Blue, Tao/Red and Baba Sagas. Namek would be split off similarly, with an initial "Arrival" saga, Ginyu Force Saga, and of course the Frieza Saga. ...

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

If we consider the main thrust of the story arc being Goku is in conflict with the Red Ribbon Army then yes the story begins when the Red Ribbon army makes themselves known and ends when Goku defeats Staff Officer Black. Which is sufficient enough reason to separate Red Ribbon from Baba. But if we ...

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

Arcs can have overlaps and still be distinct. Baba's tournament has a beginning, middle, climax, and resolution. There's a link to the RRA arc, but the RRA's arc concludes when Goku defeats Black. Normally I'd agree, but the RRA arc has several more of those: Korin's Tower/Tao/Red, the Pirate Cave,...

Re: The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

Since when has the Baba arc ever been sectioned off from the Red Ribbon Saga? Since as long as I can remember. Even Kanzenshuu does it, which honestly is what the thread title is referring to: I think this should be changed on the main site itself. https://i.imgur.com/Op2kvD7.png @Robo: I personall...

The Baba Arc should be rolled into the RRA Arc

Okay, so this is a subject that's been on my mind lately but I feel it's a very important one. I think the Uranai Baba portion of the story shouldn't be sectioned off from the rest of the Red Ribbon Army arc. This is one of those categorizations that's always confused me. While I understand the imme...

So given that it must have been he didn't so much forget about her per se, just that he didn't really have all that much to write for her in terms of significant material to contribute to in terms of the story as a whole. Of course, some people takes those significant stretches of non appearance as...

Re: Dragon Ball Rewatch, Week 13 - DB episodes 56-60 (CURRENT WEEK)

I'd imagine Toriyama had to be selective about which characters he showed at the end due to deadline and page count pressures. Lunch is a classic throwback but #17 is interesting as well because it's implied he was brought back at the end of the Cell Arc but we never actually see him.

I haven't seen that episode in ages, but I'm sure there are people who were left out but who one could imagine most likely would've donated energy. (Maybe #8 and the rest of Jingle Village?) #8 and Suno are seen giving their energy in the anime version, even TFC! 2. Why would a wish to bring back h...

Upa’s theme is one of my favorite pieces in Dragon Ball so I don’t mind its excessive use here especially since it all but disappears after the Baba arc.
Did they ever re-use it for the Saiyan Arc filler?
