Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Most people recognise the style change in DB starting at the Demon King Piccolo saga. Has Toriyama ever noted why the story got more serious here?

Re: Super anime vs Super manga
The only thing I think the manga might do 'better' (I think the more accurate word is 'different' while still being interesting) is the Goku Black saga. Everything else felt rushed (ToP, Beerus saga) or just not as good (U6 tournament). RoF and Broly aren't even covered.
But I liked some of the ...

Re: Would the Dragon Balls Still Function if Buu Absorbed Dende?
The only thing that has made the dragon balls inert has been the death of the creator. Since Dende is still alive in this scenario, the dragon balls would still be active.

They could've at least called it Spiral Beam Cannon, at least that first word has some meaning.

Re: The end of "Akira Toriyama canon"
Because mostly this discussion was based on complaining about Toriyame, complaining about TOP, complaining about Toriyama's way of writing, complaining about Goku, complaining about DBS, complaining that DB died 1995.
This thread is one big complaint, complaining can't be fun because it's ...

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Before streaming and fast internet, I had access to the DBZ movies and TV specials through cable TV. But I always wondered - why are the History of Trunks and Bardock - The Father of Goku TV specials labelled this way and not as movies?

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
The Bojack movie is a better movie than I remember. It fits into the anime timeline perfectly and even gives a possible explanation for why Vegeta starts fighting again. Great animation and the tournament at the start is a lot of fun.

Re: Why Tenshinhan/Tien can, and should get more relevance
I've never understood Tien's appeal to the point others do. I've heard people say that he's their favourite redemption arc in all of DB, over Piccolo and Vegeta, and I can't help but think 'really?' He was an adversary for the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai and basically heel-turns after his fight with ...

Re: A rebuttal to the defense of the Zamasu arc ending
Trunks' timeline doesn't have Dragon Balls and practically everyone on Earth is dead well before the ending, so that grievous damage can't be simply fixed (and if you tried to introduce Dragon Balls in order to do that so Trunks doesn't simply preside over a Ghost World, you'd get the obvious ...

Re: Any FUNi dubisms you still find yourself saying from time to time?
I use the English translations since I only watch it dubbed, however I will sometimes switch some names to their Japanese counterparts since I was around in the early 00's fansites. I'll use terms like Tenshinhan, Kaioshin and Kienzan interchangeably but I largely stick with the English translations ...

Re: Anyone else disappointed with the whole new cell max, gohan beast, orange piccolo etc
I love both designs. I instantly liked Orange Piccolo (the scene where Gamma 2 stops punching him and Piccolo is staring him down is metal as fuck) but it took a while to get on board with Gohan Beast. Not sure what it is but I have slowly come to enjoy the look of it too.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Is the continuation of the DB Super manga beyond the anime (ie. The ToP) also based off notes from Toriyama?
As I understand it, the manga exclusive arcs are written by Toyotaro. He still gets notes from Toriyama, but those stories are Toyotaro's.
So Toyotaro writes the stories but ...

Re: When do you think the Super anime is returning? Should I read the manga while waiting for the anime?
I was waiting for the manga to be adapted but it's been almost ten years since the anime began and there's no confirmation on it restarting, plus DB Daima will be the next series so who knows when or if it will happen, so I'm just gonna go the manga.

It's nice to see a comment that isn't incredibly angry about DBS existing. What makes you like it more than Z?ZombieVito wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 2:47 pm Yes, very much so. I even prefer it to Z.
I'm talking about the anime of course. The Super manga is irredeemable trash that ranks even lower than GT to me.
