For me, the highlights of Super were all the lower-key, slice of life moments. I think the story really struggled when it tried to raise the stakes or build tension, and we can't help but compare it (unfavorable) to DBZ.

It's quite possible to look back on older Dragon Ball works and recognize that they are not particularly great as a whole, especially now that one is no longer a literal child. It's actually quite healthy to do so!

I missed a week and watched 17 & 18 back to back and had a great time. Incredible animation, genuine laughs, a couple moments with that inimitable Dragon Ball spark that was missing from DBS so often. That said, "big guy" fights are sort of boring, and it feels like we just did this with Super Hero ...

With these 5 powerhouses now on the scene is this the big clash that will end Super? Doesn’t seem like there is much time for some of these new forms to get more screen time.

Why is the fact that the villains are idiots who caused their own problems an inherently bad concept where the criticism is apparently self evident? The fact that Gomah would have been just fine if he didn't change everyone to kids is one of my favourite things about the premise.

I do recommend it though. In general it's a lot more competently produced than the anime, with enough differences to be worthwhile even ...

The super anime was compromised at best, and unwatchable at worst, but the movies were incredible. There's no way they're going to "undo" that.
