Yeah, but isn't Luffy's name a pun on the sailor word ''luff'', which is in fact pronounced as its written? Wouldn't that mean the way ''Luffy'' is pronounced is technically wrong?

There's tons of old Dragon Ball actors doing roles in One Piece, though. My favourite is Pilaf and Buggy sharing an actor.

I don't know about that... I think when you've got a good enough understanding of Toriyama's style, or better yet, of art and styles on its own, most of the choices were pretty much no-brainers.
