Yes, seeing as though the latest 3 releases of the Dragonball Z DVDs managed to chart on Oricon (that's some indication right?).

The 16x9 really doesn't bother me all that much.
What's really noticeable though is that dirt and glue, it's all over the place. I've never seen any of FUNimation's Ultimate Uncut releases, so I'm wondering if they were similar?
I recently bought Viz's latest Ranma 1/2 release of Digital Dojo, which ...

Re: Dragonball - A Lifestyle?

How long have you been involved with this series?
Nearly 11 years, started watching November of 1996.
How did it begin?
I was 6 and woke up to watch Saturday morning cartoons. It was around 6 or 7 AM EST (in New York), and I the first episode I saw was the one where Jeice and Burter were just ...

Heh, I got the "cinematic" vibe, but it felt like watching something in the 60's, like a Godzilla movie. That's just me though.
Although, only slightly more, I did notice that your screenshots seem to have slightly higher clarity than the ones in the other topic. Is that just me or did you use a ...

The manga is defintely as popular as Dragonball was, if not more so.
The anime, I'm not so sure. I believe it mangaes to land in the top 10s of Animation, but I have no idea how Dragonball/Dragonball Z/Dragonball GT did. DVD sales though, not sure on that, the Dragonbox singles are selling pretty ...

Unfortunately, I think FUNimation will probably continue this, seeing as casual fans of the show may pick it up for the price. Even BestBuy is selling it for about $35, which isn't that much more than the MSRP of a single R1 anime DVD.
Simply because of the cheap price, it probably will sell.
And I ...

What's the overall quality of the picture/sound?
Better than the original Funimation take? Worse?

I really don't think Naruto is too big among casual fans. I believe as well it's appealing more to the more anime-oriented individuals in the US. I'm not saying it's just limited to that, as there probably are a good number of the casual fans. This may be due in part to the anime market having ...
