I tend to think his first transformation probably did have some emotion involved. But it was probably just that little kid frustration when they're losing at a game or something. I mean, Goten never seems that full of rage, but he gets plenty annoyed when Trunks bests him. :)

I remember watching the movie #8 dub for the benefit of my sisters, and putting the subtitles on. I seem to recall that there are a lot of places where the original version has no voice-over, which was all filled up in the dub. That's a normal occurrence, but they did it a lot in that movie.
