Re: Furuya Tooru (Yamcha) Admits to Physically Abusing Woman He Had An Affair With

I'm afraid, it also depends how "big" he actually is? Besides Watsuki, we also had Dragon Quest composer, Koichi Sugiyama, famous for such claims as deny Japanese war crimes during 2nd WW, yet he kept his work and even had TV drama after he died https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2...

Re: Is original Dragon Ball really that unpopular?

True, I guess then it must be because the Arabic dub NEVER got to the juicier parts of OG DB like the Piccolo Daimao Saga. One thing that is interesting is that the comedic early parts of OG Dragon Ball actually saved the show in Latin America (All the sexual humor got edited out like you said SHIN...

Re: Is original Dragon Ball really that unpopular?

It just occurred to me why OG Dragon Ball would be unpopular in the Middle East. So many reasons specially the sexual humor, without it Dragon Ball is sorta boring (Until about the Red Ribbon arc) and devout Muslims wouldnt like the female nudity. TV censorship was brutal in the first arc and the e...

Re: Is original Dragon Ball really that unpopular?

To contribute something to the original idea of this topic, Dragon Ball in the Arabic world isn't that popular either despite airing a significant amount of episodes (around 1/3rd of the series). I'm going with second-hand info from some of my peers but Dragon Ball Z was also known way before Dragon...

Re: Has Toriyama ever worked as an assistant?

A random thought that came to my mind as I was working on an essay. Do we know if Toriyama ever worked as an assistant to another mangaka at any point in his entire career? It is known by this point that many mangaka start out as assistants before they branch out with their own series under their o...

Re: Dragon Ball Theme Park

It should be noted that Saudi Arabia are and still have Comic Conventions since at least 2017 and have hosted other anime events across the kingdom. This is not something new for them, but it is on this scale. NGL at first I was pretty taken aback by this, but I remembered that they also made the &q...

Dragon Ball Z stamp collection?

A little while ago, my father went to a trip to South East Asia and he brought me back this as a souvenir. I still haven't opened it to check the content but I want to know if this is an official product licensed by Shueisha and not one of those crazy bootleg products typically found in these region...

Re: Dragon Ball Without Its Creator

If you asked this question 10/11 years ago I'd probably said something like "The story is all done. There's no need to get concerned about the status of the franchise". But right now? I feel like the pillar that holds it within itself is gone and my cynical mind tells me things will get wo...

Re: Akira Toriyama Passes Away.

Came to pay my respects One cannot underestimate the impact this one man had on not just the manga industry, anime industry, but to every artist around the world. My artist phase in my late teen years to early adult years were heavily inspired by his artwork. He created an entire generation that wan...

Re: Shueisha, Twitter and DMCA

What's insane is that Shueisha didn't make any official statement about this affair at all they haven't denied at all of this. Also noticed non of the big anime news outlets covered any of this. Anime News Network, Crunchyroll, when they usually post these piracy and DMCA-related news all t...

Re: Team Four Star's influence on Dragon Ball's revival

The weirdest thing to me is Team Four Star was able to turn that sub par product into a career while Little Kuriboh's YuGiOh never had that level of success despite being a much better product made in no where near as complicated a manner. Maybe it's just right place, right time and right property....

Re: Team Four Star's influence on Dragon Ball's revival

Isn't this like saying the Star Wars Prequels fandom were influenced by Reddit Prequelmemes? Star Wars Prequels were always shat on by everyone from within or outside SW fandom but now there's great love for them and if you go to any Star Wars-related video you find endless meme references and quote...
