Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
It doesn't matter if it's closest, it's still not pronounced the same. Because old English being "dead" from its country of origin is entirely irrelevant, it's the origin and the language can still reflect off that by your logic. Nothing and I mean nothing, dictates "British English&...

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Discussion
With Funimation's release of DBZ Kai season 1 containing the correct Yamamoto music and the apparent re-release also containing Yamamoto's music, it seems that some at Funimation are stubbornly persistent to keep the Yamamoto music and determined to fight to the end to retain it. I know how they feel.

Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
Which is why I said the source or what is closest to the source. Aside from the fact that we have the source, which is a western Germanic old English language. American English is a form of English as British English, neither is "more correct". Unless you're referring to dialects in both ...

Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
West Germanic English would be the source. You'll notice I said source or closest to the source. The old English is no longer used in the country of origin entirely in the form that it originated in however the country of origin's pronunciations, that is England's English pronunciations, is the clos...

Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
There may be an English speaking region which pronounces Z as Zoa, to them that would be the correct pronunciation. What you grew up with would seem correct to you. But, if you want to find the actual correct pronunciation, go to the source, or what is closest to the source. And that is British Engl...

Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
The correct pronunciation for the letter Z is Zed. Not in American English. It's pronounced differently in American English. British English pronounces it as Zed and from my findings, the other languages pronounce it as Zed in their own offshoots of the letter (e.g Zetto in Japanese) Aside from US ...

Re: Dragon Ball Zee vs Dragon Ball Zed
The correct pronunciation for the letter Z is Zed. Having said that, I treat the Z in Dragon Ball Z as a word instead of a letter. That word being Zeee. So I pronounce it Dragon Ball Zeee because that is how Ocean pronounces it in English and, as I mentioned, because I treat the letter Z in DBZ as a...

Re: My conclusions after showing different people DBZ and Ka
^ What's the main point about Z / Kai? Beating up bad guys. Where's the story? Beating bad guys up. Whoa, that was awesome. I don't know if you're playing devil's advocate or being a troll. At the risk of feeding the troll; I'm going to answer this absurd statement. Dragon Ball Z does have a plot a...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Why did Ocean pick episode 108 of DBZ to start dubbing? The answer is it has to do with the purchasing of episodes by Cartoon Network UK. Cartoon Network UK had purchased 2 batches of episodes from Funimation. The first batch was episodes 1-67. The second batch was episodes 68-107. They kept repeati...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
It's also the reason why they had to dub DBZ themselves and replace the score with made-in-Canada music, right? Nope. The Ocean dub of DBZ was made primarily for the UK and European market. Because of the events that unfolded, it is doubtful that AB Groupe considered Canada as a potential customer ...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
My whole argument was that the British are not above the word "foreign" solely because they live in the same area where the language originated. It's just completely baffling to me that you would suggest it's wrong for native speakers in other countries to use that word, because from thei...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Abell's Trunks is a hollow, empty, limited take on the character which sounds nothing like Takeshi Kusao's take or preformance. I don't mind an actor having a different take on a character than their original conterpart, but it has to work with whats going on, on screen, and has to preformed well f...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
If this dub is TV only, it increases the chance of replacement music, and I'll highlight why. From the information that was gathered in the early dubbing days of DBZ (when Funimation was a lot more open than they are now) it's apparently more expensive to license the original music instead of creati...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
Having not see (heard) Erickson's work on Zeta Gundam, I won't comment on it. But his work on DBGT is good, it even gets praise from those who aren't too keen on the dub. The reason I brought it up is because we have 2 voice actors who voiced the same character for companies related to each other wh...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
It seems nowadays everytime I come to post something in this Ocean dub of Kai topic, there's a new page, which is good. The Funimation dub topic is buried underneath other topics. The Ocean topic is active and we only have a minimal amount of information so far, keep the discussion going :) "Ad...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
The hate for Kikuchi coming from this forum are mostly from people who normally like Kikuchi. My issue is not just the bad placement, it's the way Toei handled the situation. The original OST should not have been removed but if it was, they should've licensed more tracks to use than they did from Ki...

Re: Ocean Studios' "Dragon Ball Kai" dub seems to be coming.
I'd say the triple-canibalization (quadruple, if you count the orange bricks still on my Target and Best Buy shelves) of having competing products on the market is having a far larger effect. I think you're just making up an argument you want to be valid. I should've mentioned the reasoning behind ...
