I think the music is... okay so far but might need time to get use to IMO.

^ For further music clues, we can pretty much assume that the whole Battle of Gods soundtrack will be used as part of the Kai soundtrack (some pieces were already heard).

Of course, it might take time, cause Battle of Gods was mostly composed of "serious" tracks, with only a small handful of "relaxed" or "humorous" tracks (part of which has already been used in episode 99 and 100 so far).

Kai is the first time that we can hear the composer's take on the series' funny side (although Goku's title screen theme and the Pilaf Gang already gave clues of what we heard so far in Kai), which is the only thing we've heard so far, except for only one serious emotional moment when Goku reaches out to them from the Other World - which happens to be the most appreciated track so far, so I'd say it's a good sign for what's to come since all the funny moments will be tossed aside in a while.

For the many orchestral tracks probably in store, wait for something like episode 10 (I guess it will be around that time that things get dark and tense for the first time in that era, with the eerie Spopovitch beating up Videl - a scene I always loved for the sense of growing tension in the manga, as the characters notice more and more anomalies about Spopovitch and clearly state they have a growing bad feeling about all this and would like Videl to lose right now).

We've probably heard one more serious sounding track. The special version of BoG had some tracks from the Buu arc, and this must be one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtE8eaQBVvk#t=38s

Just finished watching this episode and the new background music does not sound that bad. I can't wait for tomorrows episode.

Also the remastering does not look that either so I don't why a lot of people are complaining about it.

Uh, because it's bad.

It's gone from being a nice, grainless extension of the Dragon Boxes to an over contrasted and saturated mess with a green tint:

Of course, at a smaller res like this, the difference isn't as great but when viewed at full size, it's a big decrease in remaster quality.

Who knows they might take out the green tint for the home releases. But it does not really bother my viewing experience though.

Not as horrible as a FUNimation remaster but still pretty bad.

Toei Animation could have just used FUNimation's Orange Bricks' of Seasons 8 & 9 for it which look better.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Hope FUNimation fixes that. I'm not too bugged by it but I'm not happy either.

My cousin is content about keeping things like they are since she hates animation of BOG and openings. I like being nostalgic, but I don't approve of bashing the new animation for BOG.

He has undoubted ability, that's not really in question.

The issue is most likely due to the fact that he was given a very limited production budget, and possibly very little time on top of that - both of which have serious consequences on the sound and compositional quality of the resultant work. Furthermore, it's not just the weak score that represents an issue - but also poor and inappropriate placement within each episode, both of which Sumitomo has nothing to do with.

Dragon Ball Kai: 100 - Caught! The New Hero is Son Gohan
If I have to compare the music with the one in DBZ, this is way too low! :problem:
The World Fighters Tournament, yea...nothing serious really. In Dragon Ball the fights were great, not fake... like now. Mr. Satan
At least Vegeta enters the competion and makes it a bit interesting!
