Agreed. But knowing what I've seen from this board, they'll dismiss it anyway.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Noone here has ever said that Funi hasn't helped the industry as a whole. It's the utter incompetence they use for Dragon Ball releases that we complain about.

I feel that Funi is displaying more of a blatant disregard for the masterpiece and amazing piece of work that is Dragonball. They are fully aware of how Dragonball was truly meant to be seen and how well it is being released in other countries and yet they consciously choose to take the easier and more profitable route.

Dragonball will make money these days no matter what. Funi is just taking shorcuts because they don't want to put in more effort. Just look at all those extras on your Season sets. Oh wait, those are non existant.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Not even "easier" - they had to go out and find a guy to do that 'remastering' on the season sets. Why? I wouldn't happily bought the season sets if they weren't cropped. It's the extra shit they do that flabbergasts me. The why.

The same porno guy that they had do the explaining on why they did the remastering.

Eh, what can you do? They know business, it got them this far. I'm going to guess that they had lots of fans squealing and hollering at that.

I'm not going to lie and say I never found the meme humorous, but this is the internet fad after all, so I don't think they will be able to get much more good will doing that more than once.

"Have you seen my arm its GREEN you can't miss it!"

"I think you've singed some of my leg hairs."

"Are you excited?! You should be."

Honestly, I think Ocean dub Raditz had more WTF lines then "It's OVER 9,000!!!" but whatever. Everyones humor is diffrent, and the >9000 stuff is still funny to a lot of people. My own non DBZ focused forum is absolutely riddled with the joke (I blame my co admin who first heard the line as to why Vegeta can't get a PS3...because its...yeah, and kept going with it).

Its "the Inturnets" meme culture wether we like it or not, it's going to be repeated until the internet meme dies. And net memes do die.

I mean when was the last time you heard ALL YOUR BASE jokes? The last time I saw anything was at least 2-3 years ago and it was dying even then. Internet jokes thrive for a while, die for a while, and if they're lucky sometimes come back for a while, ad rinse repeat.

Ultimately, just let people have their fun, humor is diffrent to everyone and acting oh-so above a certain joke just makes someone look pompous.

What was the original Japanese line in the anime? Was it 8000 as well?

The original line was indeed "over 8000".

I can't tell a joke to save my life, but if it requires so little effort to be funny on the internet, then I deserve my own talk show.

Where was that from? Sounds more like a Star Trek line than DBZ.

This video perfectly expresses my feelings about the whole "Over 9000" phenomenon and its... overused-ness.

Anyone played Burst Limit? I was playing it with subs and it said subbed "9000".... and I wondered if it was a mis-sub or what... but was too lazy to go back and listen while sitting there attempting to translate.

Aren't the subtitles just the english dialouge?

Some things are like that and tailored for the English version. Ever play Sonic Adventure in Japanese? There's a scene where the written dialogue says, "I am Dr. Robotnik," where you can clearly hear "Dr. Eggman-sama."

See it at about a minute in, for the most "lol" worthy moment in Dub history.

I still haven't figured out where the hell the scientist bit came from. Left field apparently...

you know what's sad is that whole brilliant scientist and rigal 7 crap was some of the best written lines in DBZ at the time. Even though almost noooooone of it was the real maccoy it was so good.
