Viz Translation Review...Again
For my 10,000th post, I'd like to announce the restarting of my old project to analyze the entire Viz translation of the DB/Z manga in-depth. Because I apparently never learn. Originally the plan was to use my 10,000th post to kick off the project, but I don't have all my ducks in a row just yet, and meanwhile all this Super news makes it difficult to keep my post count from reaching 10,000. So here we are, with me just telling you about things I may possibly do in the future.
Current plan: go through using Viz's digital manga bundle. If anyone wants to volunteer to help with image comparisons, that'd be great. Because obviously those would add a lot, but on my own I don't have the time/ability to do both translation analysis and images.
Not sure on what the best format for this would be. Another forum thread? Maybe a separate blog devoted to the project? Twitter? All three?
Thoughts, suggestions?

Re: Viz Translation Review...Again
That is the same translation that I have in Vizbig.
Looks like the Viz translation is the same in all the releases?

I don't know why, but I tend to lean toward "Section on each appropriate chapter page of your website's Manga Guide"Herms wrote:Not sure on what the best format for this would be. Another forum thread? Maybe a separate blog devoted to the project? Twitter? All three?

Whoa, touché. Well, generally speaking, I would also love and hype for Herms' section of information awesomeness being part of the page as well.VegettoEX wrote:I don't know why, but I tend to lean toward "Section on each appropriate chapter page of your website's Manga Guide"Herms wrote:Not sure on what the best format for this would be. As Kanzenshuu is to Dragon Ball what Wookiepedia is to Star Wars. Thanks for the gun guys.

Re: Viz Translation Review...Again
For comparison, the digital version sold on VizManga.com is the censored one, with "Stubborn bastard" becoming "Stubborn vermin" and "Damn you!!!!" becoming "How could you...!!"soppa saia people wrote:I don't if this well help but here's this

Re: Viz Translation Review...Again
i know in my DBZ Volume 11, after Goku tells Freeza that he's a Super Saiyan, Freeza thinks about how Vegeta going on and on about and then yells "Damn him! Damn him to Hell!" Where as, in the Vizbig and digital edition, they decided to make it sound like it was from a Saturday morning cartoon villain and have him shout "Blast him! Blast him to infinity!" So Viz's digital edition definitely isn't their first translation. I found a lot of other censorship that makes no sense and is sometimes inconsistent.

Re: Viz Translation Review...Again
I own all of the Viz manga in digital and physical format (with varying amounts of censorship), as well as the tankobon and kanzenban in digital format. If you're looking for any help diving into these things or getting the necessary scans in order, I'd be more than happy to help.

Re: Viz Translation Review...Again
In addition to "Blast him", the VizManga version also has Gohan saying "I-is that the ship" rather than "I-is that ship?"
Don't know if it was accidental or intentional, but Viz seems to have uploaded their first printings to the Kindle Store for some reason.
