I never teared up, but I certainly had a "lump-in-my-throat" feeling in several moments:

- Goku reuniting with Grandpa Gohan
- Piccolo dying in the Saiyan arc
- Gohan dying in the History Of Trunks TV special
- Vegeta's sacrifice in the Majin Boo arc
- The final episode of GT

The one I remember the most I first watched the last episode of GT. I think that it was due to the fact that my friend used to come over to watch the episodes with me, so not only was it the end of the series but it would be the last time we would watch the show together each day (obviously we'd still each other but still, watching the show each day became a tradition at some point...!).

What made it funny though was that we both were trying to hide the fact that we got a tiny bit emotional away from each other! It sounds quite silly when I remember it and to make matters worse I'm pretty sure that the original Dragon Ball started airing shortly after so we just carried on and watched that!

But the one which still gets me to this day is the ending to 'A Hero's Legacy'; just watching Goku Jr. get all emotional and tear eyed at the end sets me off too!

I've never cried, but I've gotten close and that was with the GT ending. In retrospective it's kind of silly to think people thought that was the end.

These moments really do hit me in the feels though:

Goku's 2nd death
Goku reuniting with his Grandpa
Chaotzu's 2nd death
Kuririn's loss vs Ma Junior at the 23rd Budokai
How do you get into the Ginyu Force? With a letter of RECOOMEndation!

I also thought the speech Vegeta makes to Goku before he dies from Freezias beam was sad. Everyone thought the speech was corny but for the first time you see a vulnerable emotional Vegeta, how he opened up to Goku it was just sad.

I never thought it was corny, at least not in the original or Kai's version. Vegeta's not one to get so vulnerable, so it feels earned that he's breaking down at this moment.

Gohan saying goodbye to Dende when he had to go back to Namek. I tear up everytime. Especially when Gohan starts to cry after Dende is gone.
Goten saying he loved his big brother Gohan when he was fighting Super Buu alone, and wanted to go help him gave me feels..
Future Gohan's death made me feel sad but not tear up.

I forgot about that one. Pretty heavy stuff seeing Goku appearing in front of Goku Jr. The other one is the ending to Path To Power, Octavio getting squashed and Goku just crying and exploding his Ki to the maximum. Everyone staring at him as to what wish they wanted to ask Shenlong and they all set aside and let Goku have his wish of reviving Octavio. Seeing Goku smile as he sees Octavio again as the Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku song plays, hits me right in the Kokoro.

When Piccolo dies in the Ocean dub.

When Piccolo/Vegeta die in the game Legendary Super Warriors.

When Goku dies in the first Legacy of Goku game.

What makes you tear up from the video game more than the series? Not judging, just wondering.

The soundtrack of course. Sounds more emotional than anything used for the anime.

I never teared up, but a scene that was always a favorite of mine was in DBZ 147, when Goku suddenly teleports inside the spaceship, and Kuririn, who was missing Goku, is left speechless before running to hug him, breaking the ship and everything. A bgm version of Cha-la plays. The Kikuchi score, Mayumi Tanaka's acting, everything makes that scene absolutely emotional. It's also one of the best depictions of those two's friendship.

Plenty of scenes I'm sure, two that come to mind are Gohan going SSJ2, an Gokus pod quickly zipping away from planet Vegeta as his father an {most of} the rest of his race are extinguished. I guess its just that "he got away" sort of happy tearjerker.

There are three moments that come to mind, though I imagine there are probably more. The first is when Goku throws his Genki Dama at Boo; I got very emotional, as it had a real sense of finality. This is last big moment for the series. The last time we as an audience would see our hero save the day (I never really considered GT at the time). Little did I know that Super was around the corner!

The second is when Goku is flying off with Oob in the last ever episode of the series. It was such a happy cry, though. I had a massive grin on my face and was internally thinking something along the lines of "Oh, that Goku will never change". It's a lovely and very fitting ending. It sums up the character, while also giving you that satisfying "And so the legend goes..." feeling. Great stuff.

Funnily enough, the third instance is actually the end of GT. Though I care very little for the series' contents, its ending is a nice wander through Dragon Ball's history. Seeing Goku pop in to say farewell to all of his friends before, before riding off on Shenlong, was just too much for me. Blubbered like a baby. It was overly sentimental, full of ambiguity, and not particularly fitting for Toriyama's work, but it's still my favourite ending of them all. Sue me, I like my sap.

There were a few things that got a reaction, for sure, but the one instance I recall of Dragon Ball clearly messing with me was Goku Jr.'s realizing Pan was going to die. It very suddenly thrusts us into a Dragon World in which Son Goku has been forgotten and all the carefree joy he both deliberately and inadvertently brought into the world ripped out, and that was the point. It was the pinnacle of GT's "Heroes past their prime" sucker punches. By extension, it makes Goku Jr.'s Super Saiyan transformation one of my favorites.

So much GT love in this thread. Very much agreed.
