I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

He's just responsible for the horrible character designs we have now, and his inability/reluctance to adopt contemporary animation techniques leaves his work feeling underwhelming.
Basically, he's one of the big reasons that modern Dragon Ball is not as visually appealing as it once was.

Re: Kanzenshuu User Survey RESULTS!
Holy cow! Except for the the last few categories (which I was indifferent about), I apparently agree with everyone!
I voted:
1. Dragon Ball Z- Although this was tough for me. I love Masako Nozawa's performance as Kid Goku, and she's the reason why I prefer the anime over the manga. But Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of Dragon Ball, so I kind of felt like I was voting for both of them.
2. Prefer the Anime simply because of the performances by the Japanese cast.
3. Namek arc as my favorite
4. Son Goku being my favorite character- This was what I was most happy about! He's my favorite fictional character!
5. Battle of Gods being my favorite movie
6. Bio Broly is my least favorite movie
7. Kamehameha is my favorite attack
8. Freeza is my favorite villain
9. I prefer the Japanese cast, but I think they're doing great stuff at Funimation with Kai and the recent movies
10. Super Saiyan 1 is my favorite transformation
11. Freeza's final form is my favorite transformation outside Super Saiyan

Yes and no....soppa saia people wrote: Doesn't GT have a good dub ?
The vocal performances are up for debate. In terms of how accurate the script is, it's mostly faithful with a LOT of american embellishment. It's somewhere in the middle between DBZ and DB in terms of faithfulness.
But the thing most people complain about is Mark Menza's lackluster score along with the horrible rap opening. Even a lot of GT haters love the original Japanese score. To some people it's the best thing about GT, so the replacement score gets a lot of hate.
Also, they skipped the first 14 episodes just to jump into the more action oriented stuff here in the states.
However, the DVD releases now contain the whole series as well as the Original Japanese score with the English voices, so it's all really moot at this point. The only valid complaints now are the voices and accuracy of the script.

The question was about their favorite. Even if 100% of people liked Super and thought it is great, the same 100% of people can consider DBZ as better or their favorite which would give Super 0% of the votes.Hero wrote:

Re: Kanzenshuu User Survey RESULTS!
The response to Super doesn't surprise me. Like rereboy says, the question was one "favorite" series, not multiple series you liked. Super is still so new that I doubt anybody on these forums was brought into the franchise with Super. Realistically, if you've been a fan of Dragon Ball for years, and you had to pick one series, would you pick Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, or Dragon Ball Super? Honestly, the fact that it got 1% surprises me more than anything. And that's not a judgment of its quality (I haven't even seen a single episode). Even if it was absolutely amazing, I'd have a hard time believing it's had enough time to not only cement its own reputation but surpass the reputation of every other iteration of the franchise.
I am personally surprised by the 10th anniversary movie getting the top slot of Dragon Ball movies. Personally, I think it's terrible, and I've only rarely been able to make it through the whole thing. As far as I'm concerned, movies 2 and 3 are much better at telling an interesting story, capturing the early Dragon Ball charm, and just being aesthetically pleasing. But that's just my personal taste.
The only thing that *really* surprised me was that anime beat out manga. In other venues perhaps, but on Kanzenshuu? That surprises me.

Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Speaking of which, I've still not seen the Tenth Anniversary film. I've seen all of about five or ten minutes of it so far. Yama'uchi Shigeyasu's directing is really good, though, so it's been fun. It's definitely the best storyboarding in any of the films, barring Chioka Kimitoshi's first thirty or so minutes of the 2013 film.

Dragon Ball Z Episode #232 is the one piece of good animation I've seen come from Yamamuro and I'm not even sure if he did the key animation for it himself. For all I know the only reason he did so good was because of relentless retakes from Episode Director Yama'uchi Shigeyasu, too.Kuririn Fan wrote: Isn't Yamamuro supposed to be one of the if the best animator?

I don't know, man, even Kanzenshuu says that he's really good. I know that he was involved in Super ep 13 and RoF and those fights have beautiful martial arts and choreography because he trained at the Shaolin Temple or something, so he knows his shit. :pJulieYBM wrote:Dragon Ball Z Episode #232 is the one piece of good animation I've seen come from Yamamuro and I'm not even sure if he did the key animation for it himself. He wasn't terrible twenty years ago. Now he is now, though.Kuririn Fan wrote: I don't know, man, even Kanzenshuu says that he's really good.
None of those fights we good, outside of the one bit from the end of Episode #13 animated by Takahashi Yuuya. Yamamuro has a history of altering his animators' drawings heavily, enough so for all of his good animators working on the 2015 movie to have none of their work match their usual high-levels. This alone is reason enough to drop him, he isn't encouraging or employing the strengths of his staff. Takahashi's bit from Episode #13 somehow managed to avoid this somewhat but it's briefness left little for him accomplish or show off.I know that he was involved in Super ep 13 and RoF and those fights have beautiful martial arts and choreography because he trained at the Shaolin Temple or something, so he knows his shit. :p
