I just noticed, Episode #17 is storyboarded by Episode Director Satou Masanori. He usually doesn't storyboard his own episodes. I guess this means he's finally being 'promoted'.

Interesting staff news. 14, 16 and 18 are episodes to look forward to. And i liked the two episodes Osamu Ishikawa did (2 and 10), so 17 too. I don't mind Yashima, but i'm glad he' not doing the end of the fight, i prefer him covering talky or filler episodes. All in all, a good month might be ahead.

Speaking of Yashima, he seems to hold the most consistent place in the rotation. He made episode 3, then 6 weeks later 9, now episode 15.

I hope this time Yashima has more time to do all of the cuts himself. This way resources won't have to be spent filling in on his episodes. If he can consistently pump out a solo in each rotation I would be very happy.

The first 1/2 of episode 14 was amazing. Motion-wise anyway.

Episode 16 by Iseki Shuu'ichi looks very interesting, judging by the preview. His pointy and expressive character art vaguely reminds me of DBZ's Masunaga Keisuke.

Could it be that Toei is planning to have "guest" animation supervisors like him and Seizo Toma (episode 4) eventually? That would be cool.

I googled; is Iseki Shuu'ichi the same Iseki Shuu'ichi as: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... p?id=96581 because some of those listed under that name are higher skilled animation projects. I'm impressed and surprised if it's the same guy and Toei managed to get him somehow.

Guest staff would be nice. I really loved ME!ME!ME! so I'm hoping we can get some similar work. I just wish it was all under better circumstances.

Anyone know when we'll get more writer-credits for upcoming episodes (eps 19 onward).
I'm anxious for another King Ryû episode.

Within the first ten days of every month is when the magazine is released and usually leaked.

Could anyone direct me to the place where it was stated DB Super is being produced more cheaply than Z?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

I don't remember anything ever being stated that Super is being produced more cheaply than Z. The budget for both shows is practically identical, it's just that Z had more production time to work with than Super has.

Z also had animators with a higher skill level. Plus there weren't as many anime being made back then so there were more resources to go around. Someone listed a number comparison, but I don't know where it was

Z had more frames per episode, right? Like 3500 vs 3000/2500 or something?

3500 vs. 2500

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Dragon Ball Z had more time, a smaller cast, and supposedly 3,500 drawings an episode, according to an Hosoda Mamoru interview I haven't actually been able to track down myself. The average television episode is allowed between 3,000-4,000 drawings, but Toei Animation tends to stick as closely as possible to 3,000 drawings an episode. Yes PreCure 5 GoGo Episode #4 went over that limit, probably thanks to all of the cuts Tanaka Hironori did, and the following episode had to compensate.

So it's all purely speculation then. I thought that was the case, since that kind of information isn't usually thrown around like that.
But i guess it's not like there's a set amount they're forced to stick to (i've seen Toei going overboard quite a few times, like the Umakoshi episodes in Saint Seiya Omega).

The Umakoshi episodes don't go that overboard. They're not Wakabayashi episodes or anything like that. Even Episode #51 has a ton of still shots. I'd sooner expect other episodes had fewer drawings than there simply being a ton of extra money being used.

The number of drawings allowed aren't that closely guarded a secret. Little Witch Acadamia had 17,000, one of the Gundam Age compilation films had 10,000 drawings for twenty minutes of new scenes. Yamashita Shingo outright stated he drew 5,500 drawings for his 100 cuts in Naruto Shippuuden Episode #167.

Gaiking: Legend of Daikuu Ryuu Episode #13 apparently had 10,000 drawings. This episode had a ton of guest animators, including Nakamura Yutaka from Bones. It's certainly not impossible for Toei series to go nuts, although we're talking ten years ago at this point.

Episode #22 Episode Director Imamura Takahiro did a ton of directing for Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT.
