Would Vegeta give his life to save Goku?

So I was reminded of a scene I think it was in Resurrection F and Vegeta said that he hates Goku. I really don't believe that he does though, I'm sure deep down he does see Goku as his friend.

And I was wondering if say in the upcoming Universe 6 saga there was a scenario like when Nappa fired a blast at Gohan, except it was another villain attacking Goku do you think Vegeta would intervene and give his life in order to save Goku's like what Piccolo did for Gohan or would he just do nothing and say that it was his own fault for being so careless.

I would think he would, I'd also like to think he would. I'm sure all the others like Tien, Yamcha, Roshi etc definitley would but I'm not positive if Vegeta would or not though.

On a side note I do hope that at some point in Super and maybe when it nears the end of the series, Vegeta does call Goku, Goku, and calls him his friend and to his face as well. I think that would be a nice touch.

Vegeta's response to Beerus asking what his relationship with Gokû was is incredibly interesting to me because Vegeta seems kind of stuck in this grey area.
He's not entirely sure what Kakarrotto is to him now other than someone very important to him.
Vegeta's still incredibly tsundere when it comes to Gokû. :3

That princess-carry in episode 14 is my current favorite tsundere!Vegeta moment.
*Vegeta shouts for everyone to clear the area, catches Gokû, and very gently lowers him towards the ground*.
Gokû: Thank you.
Vegeta: Shut up. *scolds him, then continues to hold him in his arms for almost two minutes, not even handing him over to Chi-Chi when she approaches and only setting him down when Beerus lands back on the ship.*

It was amazing, and after a couple weeks of individual storylines again, they're finally about to land in the same portion of the plot again and I can't wait!

Re: Giving life

His Majin Vegeta sacrifice was kind of that, but it was more "Vegeta sacrificing himself for all three of the people he cares about" than a heat of the moment sacrifice for just one of the three.

I don't know if a life-giving situation would happen in Super not because of Vegeta, but because I don't know if the plot will ever get dark enough/the situation dire enough for that kind of scene to get the chance to occur.

Re: Calling Gokû, Gokû

I'd like to see it used as a little plot point; like Vegeta using it as a way to warn Gokû something was up without letting another party realize they were onto them. I like that he calls him "Kakarrotto" though. It's in the way that a lot of characters call Gokû something different. He's Son-kun, Gokû-sa, Son, and Kakarrotto depending who's calling him.

I can see it, but only with him following it up with a tsundere line in the vein of "That doesn't mean I care about you or anything! I'm still going to surprass you one day, Kakarrotto!". :3

Yes, even as far back as the Namek Saga. There's a trope that come to mind that's an anime staple : The Only One Allowed to Defeat You So yeah, if someone is trying to kill Goku, of course Vegeta will sacrifice himself to stop that guy, he's the only one that's allowed to kill Goku.

I have no idea if you're talking about the English dub, but in the Japanese he just said that Goku pisses him off.

And yes, I firmly believe he would sacrifice himself for Goku. In fact, he already did so, in the Boo arc.

This! Of course he would do that! And also, dying in Dragon Ball is nothing as the DBs are there... There's no risk at all. As long as Goku is there(or someone with enough knowlegde or power), a sacrifice is rather without any danger.

Like jump in front of a blast to save Goku? Probably not. In ROF when Freeza was beating the shit out of Goku, Vegeta didn't do shit until Freeza called him over. Freeza could have killed Goku in a second and Vegeta was just standing there watching.

I think so, yes. Absolutely.

Goku is Vegeta's closest relationship outside of -- maybe -- Bulma (and even then there's a different dynamic), even if he doesn't like to admit it. Quite a bit of his motivation is wrapped up in his rivalry with Goku as well. I believe he'd consider it a matter of honor to give his life for him if given the chance.

There's also the matter of Goku giving his life to save Vegeta before, which we know from the Boo arc affected him quite a bit.

Yeah I'm talking about Goku's life being in immediate danger where they would know that if the blast hits Goku he would die so not like when Frieza was just beating Goku.

Also not like what happened in the Buu saga because that wasn't done just to save Goku, it was to save his wife and son as well and also to atone for what he'd done.

Are people referring to him self-destructing? In which case he definitely didn't do it to save Goku because Goku was already dead at the time. He did mention him by name in his farewell, though.

If you mean assist him by fighting Buu while he was charging up, well that was sort of critical for the "everyone not dying" part of the plan and not personal.

I'm not sure Vegeta would have died taking a blast to save Goku with no specific strategy in mind during Buu. I don't think he would do so now. Fight until the end with Goku? Sure. Help him? Sure! Die in his place? No.

He didnt with Freeza right away although he did defend krillin from him. I believe he would go to great lenghts to keep him alive.
