Are Vegeta and Bulma married?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I don't see how Saiya-jins would need last names anyway.

... Well, if they ran out of vegetables... :P
So if they were married, his last name would be Briefs I guess, or wouldn't he have a last name because he never had one?
Well, technically, if they were married, it wouldn't, since wives take their husband's surname. =P

... And I don't really understand that last part. ^^;
Nevermind, but Bulma could keep her last name..

I admit I never saw the third ova and missed several episodes of Universe, but isn't husband taking the wife's last name what happened on Tenchi, or was it just coincidental?

*Sighs* I can't remember if or who got married on Tenchi. TT_TT

I don't think Vegeta'd mind having to take Bulma's name. He'd probably not really care and then go back to his training as the last name would only appear on important documents.

In some cases in Japanese culture, a man will take the last name of his wife (Didn't Gendo do that in Evangelion?) During a college Japanese literature course I read a book called "The Makioka Sisters" (loooong and mostly boring :P) where a family had four daughters and no sons, so the man that married the oldest daughter took the family name since he would be the successor to the family business.

As for Vegeta, I like to picture him taking Bulma's last name....not that he'd ever use it, but maybe that would be his "official" name in his forged records ^_^

And LOL Jerseymilk at the idea of Vegeta getting married to stay on Earth. But then, how would they kick him out if he didn't? Isn't Capsule Corp. the only company that makes spaceships? "So, uh, could you please build a spaceship so you we can kick your alien lover who fathered your child off the planet? kplzthx."

I was referring to Tenchi's parents. That or his mom and dad having the same last name by coincidence.

Well the real reason Gendo did that was because his wife was a promising and well-respected student in scientific circles and he was ambitious. He figured taking her last name would get him further.

You know, if they caught Buruma in a bad mood and mad at Vegeta, she'd likely help build that ship to kick him off the planet. You know how bad tempered she can be. >>
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"

I think they were'nt married when Trunks was born. They must've married afterwards during the preperations for Cell.

You know, no one says they had to have had a wedding in order to be married. Could just be a common law marriage.

It all depends on how this sort of thing would have been taken care of on Planet Vegeta. I doubt Vegeta would have care much for earth customs.

But if they did have an official ceromony he made have conceded for Bulma's sake(of for his sake if Bulma nagged him to death about it). Bulma probably would have atleast wanted official documentation stating that union. I mean she's still a girl.
