Ian McDiarmid is a far superior actor for one, and he doesn't have nearly the horrendous dialog that Young was made to regurgitate, and much of the time Palpatine isn't always saying, "something, something, something, dark side". He's also not always cackling or making corny jokes.
I've never heard "coherence" used in that way. Fine, people don't speak that way, but people don't speak like they do in Gilmore Girls, Tarantino, Kevin Smith, or Aaron Sorkin movies. It doesn't matter as long as it's interesting.
You consider that line genius? We're just two very different people then because cringe inducing lines such as that make me shudder. It's not funny, it's not clever, it's the worst sort of Saturday morning cartoon schlock imaginable.
I'll take that anyday over "Listen to me sound... evil" dialog delivered unconvincingly by an untalented actor without experience. Cue Dr. Evil pink to corner of mouth.it sounds like someone trying to read a glaringly pre-prepared script as fast as possible while also matching his words to mouth flaps.
