Next DBZ fighting game for the DS?

Discussion of all things related to Dragon Ball video games (console and portable games, arcade versions, etc.) from the entire franchise's history.

It be hard doing it in 3D, because yeah you could max the DS' graphical capability to the max and have it look somewhat close to Final Bout however you'd then run into space issues, ie you wouldn't be able to have a lot of characters, stages, audio, etc, because you're putting all the power/space towards graphics.

Basicly what I'd say do would be to rip whatever sprites they can from the Jump games, make fully playable versions of the helper characters, add more DB/Z/GT chars that didn't appear at all in the Jump games, etc, etc.

While I much prefer 3D now days, 2D in this case would defenitly be the way to go as you'd be able to have and do so much more with it in terms of the DS then they could trying to do a 3D game.

Also first person perspective would be insane, I mean anyone who's ever played Power Stone or the Bushido Blade games in first person can tell you how difficult it is with what all is going on or could be going on, ie try to imagine playing the Sparking games in first person, they're hard enough in third person, so could you imagine how badly they AI would always destroy you, or if you were playing with another player you two would most likely be trying to find each other the entire time rather then actually fighting. In the end DB/Z/GT is just way too complicated to pull of in FP.

I forgot to add that a 2D fighter would leave room for better features, more characters, and overall cleaner gameplay. The 2D fighter isn't dead yet. If anything, look at the Capcom fighting universe on that.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Where's that awesome DS mockup someone on this board posted prior to the DS' release, with a 3D Kaiousama doing the Genki Dama?
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Not neccessarily. Look at Super Mario 64 DS. Not only is it gorgeous (better looking than the N64 version), but it's got everything the N64 version had and more in terms of gameplay and content, as well.

A 3D fighter featuring about a dozen or so characters, with decent models, nice-looking effects, decent SFX, BGM and dialogue, good gameplay controls and mechanics, and maybe even a couple minigames, would be no problem for the DS to handle. It's just a matter of game developers deciding to put the time and effort into making something decent like this.

Huh? Who? What now? Whatever this is, I second that. I wanna see it.

That's because of the way Mario was designed, for instance it doesn't have anything moving at blazing speeds, or giant energy blasts, or anything that needs a decent level of polys, etc, ie just because Mario was handled so well doesn't mean DBZ would be not to mention the fact that developing it would be completely diffirient then Mario.
A 3D fighter featuring about a dozen or so characters,
Which is too few characters for what people expect for a DB/Z/GT fighter. I mean the game could be great with just 12 characters, however you'd have a hard time convincing consumers to get it when they have stuff like the Sparking and Budokai series out there, plus you have to keep in mind all the complaints Shin Budokai's cast size got, and it had well over a dozen characters.
with decent models, nice-looking effects, decent SFX, BGM and dialogue, good gameplay controls and mechanics, and maybe even a couple minigames, would be no problem for the DS to handle.
Actually it is as far as DBZ goes.
It's just a matter of game developers deciding to put the time and effort into making something decent like this.
Not in this case because one of the major battles that they'd be facing would be constantly going back and fourth trying to figure out what they could do in terms of graphics, content, etc, etc.

Also don't ever think that a developer is going to spend more then a year on a DBZ fighter, ie while we all want to see them take more time with it you should realisticly keep in mind what would happen if a fighter was developed for the DS (or any system)

I think it was Jerseymilk, or Xyex who posted that.
