What is the most thankful thing DB has ever done for you?

Post by The Patrolman » Thu Nov 26, 2015 4:16 pm

Its Thanksgiving so out of goodness of my heart (Which is hard to find) what are you thankful the most that Dragon Ball has done for? For me I'm thankful that Dragon Ball even exists. Thanks to the series it taught a lot things that has helped my life shaped the way I want it to be.

DB introduced me to the huge world of Anime so for that I'm very thankful.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

DBZ, along with Pokemon and Sailor Moon, was a lot of 90's kids first exposure to anime.

Seeing as how I made my first friend because of our love for Dragon Ball, I'd have to be thankful because of that.

It got me back into anime and introduced me to a world of knowledge … and I even learnt some drawing tricks from it!

There should be a witty quote or something down here. I'm just not imaginative enough to come up with anything.

Having some of the most awesome music any Japanese Anime has to offer.

That, to me, is the most thankful thing DB has ever done for me.

So was Gundam Wing and other anime on the Sci-Fi channel anime block too. DBZ got me into drawing comics and more action anime in middle school.

It inspired me to draw and write stories. :)

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Gave me happiness. I can't see my childhood days in any other way.
It was perfect and I owe a big part of it to Dragon Ball. Forever in debt with Toriyama/Toei.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I've told this story so many times over the years, so I'll keep it short - but the absolute, #1 thing I'm thankful to Dragon Ball for, is introducing to my best friend of well over a decade as well as my girlfriend of over eight. Can't imagine my life without her in it, and to think I owe it all to a series from a guy who does poop jokes. Cheers, Toriyama!

It brought me happiness, and I'm thankful to have enjoyed this story that Toriyama has drawn and written. May DB live on and bring joy for many, many generations to come.

- Years of happiness in my childhood.
- Inspiration to exercise, thanks to (dub) Goku.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

- Met a few amazing people with a common interest in liking dragon ball, who are now some of my closest friends!
- It always makes me happy to watch it. Even when I become an old man, if dragon ball is still around and being talked about, chances are I'll have a poker straight face on the outside but be like a giddy child on the inside.
- Inspires me to do and try many things, i.e drawing even if I can't draw to save my life. :D

- Inspires me to exercise regularly, to set big goals for myself, and not to give up easily.
- Made my childhood like the best ever.
- Encourages me to try new things and persevere in pretty much every area of life.
- Makes me want to be more disciplined in certain ways, such as getting up early like Goku, Krillin and Master Roshi did during their training together.

It helped me increase my knowledge of the Japanese language. Not that it is advanced or anything, but I can shout "nandato?" in weird situations with a straight face.

Along with years of happiness as a kid and now an adult, the show really helped me through a really tough time in middle school when my mom was really sick
