Dragon ball super Blu-Ray episode set 1 should have come out today. So is something fixed or not?.

Yup! Sure seems so. Though the improvements appear to vary. Some are really good:



And others are... passable, at best.

It's not perfect but it's definitely an improvement.

That is a huge relief. I personally dont mind about episode 5 though, I'm more interesting in the touch ups they did for other episodes, if such edits were even done. Would be a shame if this was a episode 5 only deal.

I'm not surprised so little was changed. It doesn't seem like there is much in the way of time for Tate Naoki to do anything as it is.

Like that was something "new", Really, why not tear Gohan or Krillin arms off for a change? Why always Piccolo? And for god's sake that scene in NEP was awful! It was like Tagoma tearing off Piccolo arm was like someone pulling the branch of a tree! Real lame, it hadn't the feel of a body member being teared off.

That's how Freeza did it to Nail's arm during their battle back on Namek. Even Tenshinhan's arm got ripped by Nappa.

No, it wasn't. The way Freeza dit it to Nail's arm was way more visual and brutal, you'll see next episode, then you can compare.

OMG! At least they trying to fix this aberration! That made me so happy right now.

It's not like the second half of the episode was that bad anyway. As long as the major changes are done to the first, everything is fine. At last we can get over this.

I wouldn't say it wasn't worth discussing, but treating it as an irrefutable source for a news story would be taking it way too far.

Regardless, I'm just glad it turned out to be wrong and we got some fixes afterall. Episode 5 really needed to be cleaned up a bit, as I feel it was actually the worst looking episode of the franchise and keeping it that way could have lead to some hesitation for a TV deal.

I'll take those improvements, at least they tried to do something. Hopefully some of the other scenes got some touch-ups too.

The corrected version looks like it actually has Gokuu thrusting his body forward to put it behind his punch.

There is little improvement it seems from those still frames. But perhaps the fluidness has improved. Can someone make a video comparison with the same scene split with the tv and dvd versions. That would be very nice to see!

I'm somewhat pleased with the clean-ups on some of the frames. It's a far cry from amazing but it definitely looks better. Aside from generalizing and unfair criticism regarding Super in comparison to Z, I think a major reason we are hearing so many complaints about Super's animation is because of the changes in the visual style. See, in Z, the colors don't pop as much and the line quality leaves much to be desired. Of course, that quality picks up gradually and the drawings and inconsistencies don't appear to be as messy. Then again, I'm drawing more unfair comparisons because I never saw Dragon Ball Z in it's raw, Japanese form when it first aired; I'm assuming many of those inconsistencies have been cleaned up. Here we have Super: it's been about 20 years and the visuals saw an upgrade, which is natural. We have colors that pop more and the line work is digital/vector-based. Keeping that in mind, it is likely much easier to catch everything wrong with it.

The changes in the animation of EP5 may not be that significant, but hey, it's at least something, so I'll take it. Beggars can't be choosers.

Unless they were gonna redo the whole episode from scratch, it was sort of a waste of time.

It's not a third pec, but it is a little odd. They've done it for decades, and I'm still not 100% sure what exactly it's meant to be. I guess it's meant to be a way of fusing the arm to the torso? Not sure.

It looks worse in the redraw because his entire chest is drawn at the wrong angle compared to the way he's moving.
