Goten & Trunks in 'Super'

I see zero similarities in visual design between Future Trunks and GT Trunks, to be honest. They dress like completely different people -- but not in a good way. Kid Trunks is concerned to some degree with being "cool" -- look how he reacted to Gohan's Saiyaman outfit compared to how Goten reacted. Him going off dressed in pleated shorts and socks and a bandana is like the opposite of cool, even in the late 90's. It looks preppy and tasteless -- which are not things I associate with *any* version of Trunks. Future Trunks might have had an "it is always the quiet ones" personality, but even in a post-apocalyptic world he managed a nice jacket and black fatigues combo there that was super cool and fit him. He wouldn't be caught dead wearing what GT Trunks wore.

EoZ Trunks I would love to see more of in terms of character design -- similar sense of style to Future Trunks, but with a clearly more expensive jacket/shirt. I think Teen Trunks should rock that: sort of cool but sort of expensive in a street fashion way.

Now that we knoow that Goten and Trunks won't be in the U6 tournament, I wonder if we'll see them do anything at all. They seem to just be throwaway comic relief.

With Goten and Trunks older, Gotenks will be older. Goten and Trunks become more interested in dating girls, too...would be neat to see.

I think their lack of ageing has something to do with the direction Super has been pushed in. It's a more comedy oriented, character-nostalgia, almost like fan-service like show without a very serious plot. Don't get me wrong, there' definitely a lot going on but it just seems too much happy-go-lucky compared to cell saga for example, or even namek.
tl;dr Yeah, it sucks that they don't have experts on the team who can do simple math and adapt character age and development accordingly.

I kinda of agree. From what I can tell, their role will be to show up for a silly fight against Ginyu. Which will cut all the tension from Gohan's near death and Tagoma's danger.
On the other hand I like how they showed them, instead of FnF were they were completely omitted. It would be better if they tried to go to the battlefield and Bulma's mom kept stopping them, offering candies and stuff.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gotenks only has a 4 minute fight with Ginyu, just for Freeza to punched him out of fusion saying "Let's stop the nonsense".

I don't like either of them and the movie excluding them was one of the few highlights for me. Yeah, that's how little I value them as characters.

I love Gohan all the way but with the amount of usefulness he showed, he might as well be omitted imo. They turned him into cannon fodder until the main protagonists come. And we all know who shined the most in Cell and Buu saga, just sad.
Back to topic:
Goten and Trunks should not be left out just because a person doesn't like their characters.
The sheer contrast in personalities they bring to the Z fighters (reckless and confident) is a breath of fresh air compared to the pale faces of everyone else in Super so far. It became sickening honestly.
The only thing that bothers me is the continuity about their age and growth. I hope we don't have a Bart and Lisa Simpson syndrome on our hands.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you but I find these two so insufferable that I just don't want them there. It makes sense for them to be there sure and I won't deny you can do some cool stuff with their potential interactions with Freeza but until their personalities get a major rewrite that's just never happening, they might as well not exist.

I kind of like his more varied move set in comparison to basically everybody else and I did find his cockiness a little bit endearing at points but his bratiness really grates on my nerves. Especially in the Boo Saga where, thanks to DB amorality, Goten and Trunks treat fighting the murderer of their brother and father as a total joke.

Trunks and Goten are good characters for fun comic relief, although Goten as an individual character doesn't have much to him.
