Well, if someone does have the details on how much it was zoomed that would be great.
Speaking on that, though, if they were zoomed in to hide the glue in the first place then doesn't that mean we're getting pretty much the same vertical picture we've been getting since FUNi started releasing DBZ in America?

FUNimation didn't zoom the image themselves. They used the masters as they were given them, it's just that Toei's recent remaster has more image on each side.
Some of the glue at the top of the screen is actually still visible in the screencap Daimao posted from the CN broadcast waaaaaaay back in the thread:

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

See, the thing is, way before Toei's remasters (back around the PN days) I was hearing something about zoomed in picture. That's why I was wondering about it.Mystery Person X wrote:FUNimation didn't zoom the image themselves. *snip*
Overall. they still take more away than the supposed zoom ever did but not by much.
I forsee a lot of "DBZ Season 1 DVD Set" contests in the future.

Just in case it hasn't been posted yet, the second season is also now available for pre-order at CD Universe. You can find it for $34.97 at http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7371627.

I suppose this thread is already too low on the forum food chain to be noticed.Kendamu wrote:See, the thing is, way before Toei's remasters (back around the PN days) I was hearing something about zoomed in picture. That's why I was wondering about it.

Problem is, the framing of the "FUNi's 4:3 zoomed-in digi-beta masters" shot bears no resemblance to the image from the R1 -or- R2 releases. It seems to me that the people who made that comparison didn't base the "4:3 version" on an actual existing 4:3 version, but on what some hypothetical 4:3 version might look like if it was cropped in this particular way.
I'd still like to see more actual comparisons between the R2s, the old R1s and (when it's actually released) the new R1 box set.

Not nearly as funny, but I've never seen this in japanese (or any DBZ before season 3, for that matter, so I thought it was pretty cool.
Spanish version is as funny as US one imo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnrvJajYrKE&NR
Oh, and I thought this was funny too:

"IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND AAAUGH!"
But I wonder why it wasn't fixed to over 8000, though. They fixed a lot of other things like that, if I remember correctly.

Well, someone over at ToonZone posted the episode count per disc from an ad they saw in Tips & Tricks:
Do you guys think Funi got the audio for the episode previews? Because they seem to make a big point about having,"all the original japanese audio" in the trailer.
