Re: New Booklet/DVD Series Focusing on WSJ Manga Creators
Just found out about this by accident this morning. Very exciting! I wonder which artist will debut after Toriyama? Toyotaro?

One of the ANN links lists all the upcoming authors. I guess I'll quote it here for added convenience.LuckyCat wrote:Just found out about this by accident this morning. Very exciting! I wonder which artist will debut after Toriyama? Toyotaro?

I would get it for the DVD alone, unfortunately I don't think I'd be able to watch it even if I did get it. Also when was this actually made?

I meant when was it actually filmed, if there gonna show him working on the manga, or is it just him talking about it?

Apologies, somehow borked last night whilst reading your questionRetan wrote:I meant when was it actually filmed, if there gonna show him working on the manga, or is it just him talking about it?
Going by the fact that the scan detailing the news of the Jump Ryuu series of books stems from a February issue shows screenshots (of him illustrating) from the featured interviews, it wouldn't be too far out to think it's filmed prior to the release-date.

looking at that goku and the 4:3 aspect ration, I think atleast that portion of the dvd is old. Either way, I'm excited about itShoryuken wrote:Apologies, somehow borked last night whilst reading your questionRetan wrote:I meant when was it actually filmed, if there gonna show him working on the manga, or is it just him talking about it?

That looks really cool, both because it's the old art style and because watercolors are challenging to work with compared to digital colors.eledoremassis02 wrote:looking at that goku and the 4:3 aspect ration, I think atleast that portion of the dvd is old. So, since this is cheap, and it has a DVD to go with it, I ordered it. Funny thing though, shipping costs more than the actual product. Even when I chose the cheapest shipping option xD

That step by step guide commentary is awesome. XD
It reminds me of the those Dr. Slump fourth wall gags that I enjoyed.

Hopefully this gets a release here that is fully subbed. Not like What happened with the Yamato 2199 discs which had the show subbed but none of the extras. I always feel a bit cheated on those discs...
Re: New Booklet/DVD Series Focusing on WSJ Manga Creators
These are never coming over here. The only one that probably even has a snowball's chance in hell is the Naruto one.

I haven't as of yet but I know it's in the country. Does a fan translated English script for the DVD exist or is currently in the works at all? It isn't very long and I'd be more than happy to help out wherever possible, especially as an official international release seems highly unlikely to see the light of day, at least any time soon.sangofe wrote:So who received their Jump Ryu copy yet?
Edit: As luck would have it, the mook and DVD arrived within an hour of making this post. It's everything the site described it would be and more.
I ended up cancelling my order with Amazon and going with CDJapan (using the affiliate link, of course) thanks to SSGSS Goku's post about them accepting preorders again in favour of using PayPal and SAL shipping. It ended up arriving in 10 working days or so.

It doesn't, but I plan on setting up a team for it. I have ordered the dvd myself, by the way, but I chose the cheapest shipping method which can take up to 6 weeks for it to arrive to where I live in Norway. I've got one interested translator up for helping (the same who helped translation check the Torishima interviews.
I've pm'd you.

Is there somewhere online an translation, page by page? I know that's asking a lot...

That would be a gargantuan undertaking, not to mention likely to get you shutdown immediately by Shueisha.kindertuin wrote:Is there somewhere online an translation, page by page? I know that's asking a lot...
That being said, a decent portion of the information is already available right here on this very website (things like Toriyama's weekly comments are on each chapter page in the manga guide). Additionally, we will translate some of the more important interviews for preservation, but we're certainly not going to go page-by-page or anything like that.

Thanks for the info, I check the site daily for info anyway!VegettoEX wrote:That would be a gargantuan undertaking, not to mention likely to get you shutdown immediately by Shueisha.kindertuin wrote:Is there somewhere online an translation, page by page? I know that's asking a lot...

But could you explain why you (or anyone for that matter) would be "shutdown" by Shueisha? In the end, you just translate something, without posting the entire magazine online (as in scanned and uploaded). Or is that because of authors rights?
Just curious...
