Parts TFS did better than actual anime?
Re: Parts TFS did better than actual anime?
What they did better? Well, the pacing, the dialogue, the humor, the badassery and the characterization. Of course they have tons of liberties the anime makers and dubbers didn't have so it's not a fair comparison, but I would indeed say that the product itself is more entertaining than the anime. Unless you want to see full fights, then of course the anime is the way to go.
Re: Parts TFS did better than actual anime?
I'd say Team Four Star's original comedic dialogue for Z is much better than any of Funimation's attempts.

The TFS versions of the Androids are done very well.

It's a parody, so none of it. It's akin to asking "Which part of Star Wars did Spaceballs do better"?
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

I'm confused about this. TFS has the better characterization of the anime/manga when TFS's characters are usually exaggerated or completely changed?Saturnine wrote:What they did better? This thread is really terrible just like TFS and most of TFS is not even entertaining.
Answer: Nothing
Also most of what TFS does only provides cancer such as this thread, things like Goku is an bad parent, and annoying memes.
I saw an comment on an forum once on this subject to that Goku is an bad parent and pretty much sums TFS in general.

Re: Parts TFS did better than actual anime?
I don't think anything is better in DBZ Abridged. That being said, the way the characterize Imperfect Cell (earlier on at least) is a nice touch, it gives him an extra helping of "serial killer style".
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!

- He is, for giving Cell Senzu Bean, not realising, that Gohan is not fighter like he is (Piccolo figured it out, despite spending less thime with Gohan)ChaosLordBrandon wrote: >Everyone thinks Goku is a nutjob.

- Threat, with would be ended with ease, if Goku didn't decide to make Vegeta happy (If Goku didn't return, Vegeta and Gohan would easiy kill Dabura and then Babidi)

He knows Gohan doesn't love fighting, but 1 - Gohan is far stronger than Cell, and 2 - He's the only one that could defeat Cell, so it doesn't matter what Gohan did or didn't like. He's the only one that can win, end of story.coola wrote:- He is, for giving Cell Senzu Bean, not realising, that Gohan is not fighter like he is (piccolo figured it out, despite spending less thime with Gohan)ChaosLordBrandon wrote: >Everyone thinks Goku is a nutjob.

That was a retcon. Super Saiyan 3 hadn't been created yet by Toriyama, and what would either side gain by Goku fighting at far less than his full strength? No one who brings up this argument ever answers this question. Goku likes testing his limits. If he's fighting someone whom he can beat with ease, what is he getting out of fighting Vegeta?

One of the only reasons we made those jokes to begin with was because that mentality was a thing. We didn't start it by any stretch of the imagination.

Now this doesn't mean he's on the level of child abusers, drunken fathers, or those who absolutely hate their children. He's simply a completely unqualified dad who has absolutely no interest in being a father. People just horribly overblown that bad means he's automatically a horrible shitbag. Just because he is a bad father, doesn't mean he is a bad person, or detestable with his children. Goku is a terrible family man too. Makes perfect sense since he's a man child.Toriyama:
Goku isn't interested in child-rearing, probably. He's completely unqualified to be a father. (laughs) He doesn't even have a job. Goku wants nothing other than to get stronger, and it feels like he doesn't have any other instincts. So he shows absolutely no interest in things he's not interested in. I'd bet he wouldn't have had any interest in marriage, either.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Vastly improving on the personalities of Freeza's army is another one I want to add. Besides Vegeta and Tagoma, Freeza's army is pretty damn boring for me from Cui all the way to Captain Ginyu. TFS either giving them or exaggerating what few personality traits were there and making them fun to watch.
Thank you so, so very much for letting me know about this quote!dbzfan7 wrote:Toriyama himself thinks Goku is a bad fatherKaiserNeko wrote:One of the only reasons we made those jokes to begin with was because that mentality was a thing. We didn't start it by any stretch of the imagination.

When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Also, it's funny how Piccolo was the one who first picked up Gohan and trained him because his power was probably going to be needed in the coming battles, which including throwing him into a giant boulder, leaving him in a desert for 6 months and beating him up constantly, and yet, some years later, when it's finally time to get the benefits of having put Gohan on that road, since at that point Gohan is the only one capable of defeating Cell and everyone else is pretty much irrelevant, Piccolo is the one who DOESN'T realize this and criticizes Goku for itABED wrote:He knows Gohan doesn't love fighting, but 1 - Gohan is far stronger than Cell, and 2 - He's the only one that could defeat Cell, so it doesn't matter what Gohan did or didn't like. Goku merely did what was necessary, like Piccolo did, only now it was even more necessary for Gohan to fight. The only unnecessary thing Goku did was to give Cell a senzu but Goku knew that it didn't even matter, he knew that Gohan far surpassed Cell's best so he viewed that action as having complete faith in Gohan.
