This isn't about screen time though. Most of the characters with confirmed race names are known to be part of that larger group of kin, even if they're currently the only known survivors or something. As much as I'd like one, there's no real need for Toriyama to come up with a race name if there are only two of their species, ever, in Universe 7. Which is why Frost and a potentially larger clan in Universe 6 could change things.Silver Sinspawn wrote:There are around about 50+ named races, even for characters like Rasin and Lakasei who if you recall, don't have a whole heap of screen time.

Re: Freeza's race name?
I take advantage of this thread (Does this expression suits in this case ?
) to talk about a debate I met on other forum.
All start with a quote of Akira Toriyama:
So in English, to summarize: Freezer and Cold can't be classify as a "race", they are mutants who are the only to have great amont of Ki and cruelty.
For me, we can still class them, as a race, compose of 2 members, Cold and Freezer, as a new branch of this mutants race, with new feature so different than the mutants race wich they descend from, than this 2 entyties can be consider as an all new Race.
What do you think guys about it ? Your opinion interest me !

dbgtFO wrote:I think it would be natural for his race to be pointed out, when Freeza blew up Namek's core. Freeza himself or Kaio could have said it was an ability inherent in his race, unlike Saiyans. Same thing in RoF, when he blows up Earth. In that case Whis or Beerus could have revealed his races' name, when talking about why he survived, whle Vegeta didn't.worldmonsters wrote:We're just going to have to see, but there never really was an opportunity to call Freeza and his species by their name in the series in contrast to Saiya-jin and Namekians, because when talking about them it would be in reference to a huge number of people, while we only see a few from Freeza's clan. Maybe because we're going to see someone of their species is not part of Freeza's clan we're going to get a nameWell, the thing is, we just don't know :p We'll just have to wait and see.
[...]
I don't think that counts as anything. There was no moment in which it was necessary to call out Freeza's race. Just because the movie is about him doesn't mean that we will never get a name for the species if it wasn't mentioned in there. It has very little to do with one anotherI appreciate DB Multiverse's name for the race Frost Demons. At the very least there should be an ice pun, so Changelings and Acrosians do definitely not fit the bill. What would be the best name to call Freeza's race without referring to the name Freeza? What would be the name you would agree on, that might not exactly be canon, but is good enough? Like, imagine a board game (or video game) was about to be published and the producers of that game were publicly asking the people on this very forum what they would think would be a proper name to call the species (with all the knowledge we have at this very moment).
Not sure they should be called Demons though.
Perhaps it should follow the naming conventions of Namekian, Saiyan and Tsufurian, so a japanese pun on some ice-related word and then ian.
Arcosians are a completely different race. There is nothing confirming that the Arcosians are Frieza's race at all.
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
Re: Freeza's race name?
Oh right, they named them as such in Kaio's flashback in the Saiyan arc, right?
Guess that's where it's from and why people later on just assumed it was the name of Freeza's race in the Funi dub, as Freeza was revealed as the one controlling the Saiyans.

Would Kaseijin/Kaseian work? It seems to hold some connection with methamorfosis in general. I like Henkajin too.

That's interesting, but I'd rather we focus on the question I asked in the opening comment and the re-addressing of the question I made later o.o Because this is kind of another conversation.samuo2 wrote:I take advantage of this thread (Does this expression suits in this case ?) to talk about a debate I met on other forum.

That would be more of a transforming type of thing, then right? Henka I get, but what does Kasei mean? Also, if you focus it on that it's kinda weird that Vegeta at first didn't know that Freeza could transform if it's in his race name :p (probably also why Changeling wouldn't workHugo Boss wrote:Would Kaseijin/Kaseian work? How about "Gelid" as a name?
Gelid - (adjective) icy; extremely cold.

Yeah, I myself got duped into thinking it was the official name of the race for a good while.

Re: Freeza's race name?
I maintain, that I'd prefer the race name to be based on a japanese pun for Ice, so anyone here know the japanese word for ice or something similar?
Re: Freeza's race name?
For me they are Kraiojin (Kuraio-jin) as a pun to "cryogen", the method of conserving through extremely cold conditions.
"Citation needed."

Re: Freeza's race name?
That is a good one!
I mistakenly thought Toriyama only used japanese puns for his alien race names, but he came up with Tsufuri-jin(Tsufurian), which is a pun on fruits, so it's acceptable to have it be a pun on an English word.
Still I'd like hear the japanese word for ice or something similar like cryogen, like you came up with. Whatever sounds best I'd prefer as my head-canon until it's officially established otherwise.

Re: Freeza's race name?
I've been calling them Raiokutian/Raioku-jin for about half a decade now. It takes the cryo pun, but jumbles it the same way Toriyama did for saiya/yasai and fruits/furuutsu/tsufuru.
