THat's definitely good, but Super still lacks HEAVILY in terms of utilizing its ensemble cast compared to Z. Just remember how Kuririn, Bulma & Gohan carried the actual plot for week after week while Goku was doing boring training in spaceship. It almost feels unfanthomable now that it could happen in Super. So still a long way to go. And the list of "useless spectators" category still grows.Bulma's Foot Masseur wrote:I definitely appreciate some of the lesser characters getting spotlight, like Piccolo's upcoming fight and Bulma's Dragon Ball search.

Bulma did jack shit on Namek. It was Krillin and Gohan that kept the plot going while Goku was training in the spaceship heading to Namek.Basaku wrote:THat's definitely good, but Super still lacks HEAVILY in terms of utilizing its ensemble cast compared to Z. I guess...? I've accepted that Drgaon Ball isn't going back to the "dark days" of Freeza etc, so may as well enjoy Super for what it is. Even the consequence for losing the tournament isn't severe, probably won't make a difference to them. I just wish something more will happen yano.

Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
Dragon Ball could go back to the "dark days" of the Freeza arc if we got stories set after EOZ where all the bets are off. Any story set during the period before EOZ is ultimately doomed by the fact that we know how things are gonna end. The fact that Oob got mentioned in Super just solidified that the show won't retcon EOZ in any significant way.Baggie_Saiyan wrote:I guess...? Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
So at first I was OK with Super, but now I'm starting to have my doubts...
I said this in another thread but Beerus is a ridiculous character in both feats and power scale. Whis is 50% more powerful than Beerus and has no known feats at all. Beerus is the most powerful of the Gods which makes exploring the other Gods even more pointless. Toriyama said Goku is a 6 as SSG, while Beerus is a 10 and Whis is a 15. Lets assume SSB pushes him up to an 8, after 3 freaking years in the RoSaT we better see more than a 10% increase in power. Otherwise the most Goku could have improved without surpassing Beerus is a 40% increase with a combination of SSB and 3 years in the RoSaT. Beerus is the most powerful god so even if Goku hasn't surpassed him yet, he's got to be close to it and not even worth checking out the other Gods short of Whis who has no feats other than training Beerus and being his personal attendant.
What I am most disappointed with is the under use of old established characters. King Piccolo freaking kills Shenron after making his wish!! Even Tien was useful against Cell and the Z fighters at least participated in the Worlds Martial Arts tournament in the Buu arc. Now it's the Goku, Vegeta, and Whis show.
I'm also disappointed at the abuse Vegeta is taking. He fought Beerus as a child, and has been disrespected multiple times in the past and more recently- Beerus beat his dad King Vegeta over a pillow... Then he smacks down child Vegeta... Then smacks down his wife... and after all this Vegeta is seen Groveling at his feet and being called Servant boy!!! Disgusting, where the heck is Vegeta's pride... Not like this please...
Just to recap
-Power levels and feats have gone into incredibly ridiculous territory
-No one without God ki matters at all (we will see about Piccolo)
-Vegeta has been reduced to having zero self respect
-The animation (still mad about Frieza's foot...)
-Dont really like SSB but that's literally the least of my worries and gladly have it for fixing the above.

Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
I think Super is both easy and hard to like. As a hardcore fan it's very easy to love new dragonball, but if you grew up with dragonball on Toonami you have this...expectation for dragonball. When you see things like evolution you think "Wow really? This is official dragonball?"
But when it's animated or has the creator involved, more people are happy to come to the defense of the product. One side says you're dis loyal for supporting bad products and enabling it's slow death, other side sees it as you betray the maker by not supporting the new content and say you just hate change.
I personally find Super disappointing, but feel it's getting better and better. I don't think it'll ever be as good as ball, Z or even GT. beerus bores me, the new colors anger me, it's very inconsistent even for dragonball and nothing makes me feel like I'm watching dragonball.
The thing is dragonball since Beerus has been it's own era/reboot in my mind. And since Beerus in 2013 Dragonball has failed to give me a single moment of excitement like I had in spade from the first 3 series on Toonami.
Overall I'm not satisfied, but I learned to keep my expectations low and watch casually. I skimmed the new chapter and got bored. Haven't even read it yet or fully watched the last 3 episodes. 32 was a much better then the rest and I watched like half of it. Closest thing we've gotten to real dragonball since Pre beerus days. It's not as good as the old, days and never will be but I'll try to enjoy it as much as possible. If the animation was the same as Z's I could tolerate and enjoy super, but everytime I see it, for me it feels like a middle finger to my face. Like I put so much love and money and time into my obsession with dragonball and then they give me something that to me is nothing other then adobe flash and even if the fights ever get good, it won't be pleasant to look at. A big part of a TV show is liking what you see. For animation fans it's like a casual person seeing it done in stick figures basically. That's the best comparison I guess I can easily make. I hope it does well, I love Toriyama for what he did for me as a kid but the show still feels like a bad dream. I wish I had some way to turn off the color of the episodes to black and white so I'd enjoy it more as weird as it sounds.
In short once again. Not satisfied. but if you like what you've seen, you're in luck because it seams to be getting better and better.

This is the same sentiment I get from a lot of long-time fans of the series. Super, just due to the scope, scale, and shenanigans feels less "canon" than anything I've seen so far. At least GT and the movies felt plausible in terms of things that "could" happen in the dragonball universe silly as they were sometimes. GT was definitely the weakest style-wise but somehow I feel Super is even less inspired than that. At least the put effort into the new saiyan transformation of SSJ4.

Beerus is only the strongest in his universe which is universe 7, beers himself stated in BOG movie that there are 12 universes and each universe has a god of destruction some of them are in fact even stronger than himself.....

Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
I never said he was the Strongest God of Destruction just the strongest God in this universe unless you think the only type of Gods in each universe are Gods of destruction?? There would have to be a God of creation in each universe to replace all those planets but looks like its pointless to even explore the remaining God in Goku's own universe if he isn't even as strong as Beerus let alone Whis. For all we know they could have already surpassed the God's of Creation in power if they even bother to exist in the DB universe.Ssgvegito30 wrote:Beerus is only the strongest in his universe which is universe 7, beers himself stated in BOG movie that there are 12 universes and each universe has a god of destruction some of them are in fact even stronger than himself.....TheMikado wrote:"Beerus stated that there is no one stronger than him in the universe. My eye twitches at DB Wikia being cited as a source of information with a paste from their pages that clearly have footnotes and when you go to the footnotes it links to translations right here on Kanzenshuu but instead of linking our own stuff while you're posting on Kanzenshuu the DB Wikia is linked.

Would Kanzenshuu ever update if anyone used this site's info to make something new and widely accepted? They could make them from the inside of this community though, and they have been made, but there's not a proper weekly or monthly selection of theories and fan works, hence why they feel more at home in their own site building their ego. Then, people link to them in here.

I guess I don't really understand the question. Other than a couple one-off pages (a-are there even any others BESIDES that one?!), we're not in the business of theories and fan-works. We don't highlight that stuff because it's not official stuff and it's not relevant to our mission.Desassina wrote:Would Kanzenshuu ever update if anyone used this site's info to make something new and widely accepted? That doesn't mean we don't LIKE certain theories and fan-stuff, but... that has no place on our website.

Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
I know, but that's the escape that people want. If not on your website (and I have never suggested that), try a challenge with a few rules on the forum. Things like inspiring them into being organized and using references from this site's material, but not with excessive quoting of other people's posts, which gets annoying after a while. If only people could reply to the idea as a whole, by making their own... huh, dissertation on the matter, then we would communicate far better with each other, because we would read for comprehension, instead of read to retort. I know it's asking too much, but if the forum had personal pages (or anyone was allowed to have the equivalent of a blog) where users could write, link and refer to the material and each other's thoughts, like authors do in academic papers, we could avoid throwing arguments back at each other so frequently. But hey, I've misbehaved in heated battles before, so who am I to talk? =PVegettoEX wrote:I guess I don't really understand the question. Yeah super is pretty lazy. it's a lot of redos and color redesigns. GT was more consistant and more fun to watch and MUCh better animated. Super feels as lazy as kai, accept I actually liked kai's OST. shame they don't have the same guy. People on here seam to LOVE super's ost, but it just doesn't do it 4 me.

I still think the plot is moving too fast, but without an end date listed there's no way to know for sure.
