I feel she only fit the character doing the Pilaf arc, and that's it, it's an annoying voice and Bulma is somewhat of an annoying character there.

Nope. She's easily one of my least favorite FUNi actors ever. She got moderately better in DB.

Vollmer's Bulma was kind of a mixed bag for me. She had her moments where I think she did a pretty decent job, but her performance was far from great overall. I'd say that out of all the original Funimation voice actors, she's probably the one who improved the least over the years.

I did like her Bulma, though part of me wonders if my like for Ms. Rial's performance may stem from my being a big fan of hers. Will also say for Ms. Vollmer, a problem was that Lalaina Lindjberg personalized the role and made it her own. Kinda how other actors who voice Batman will get compared to the bar Kevin Conroy made so high.

I feel like Tiffany could've done a lot better if she just got rid of the goddang valley accent.

I used to, but Monica Rial gets the character so well that I honestly can't disassociate Bulma from her voice at all anymore.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Always thought she was an awful Bulma. The fact that her voice is winning the voice compare poll on BTVA makes me lose faith in humanity.

Don't you think that's a bit extreme? She's only winning by two votes anyway.

Gonna be honest, there were so many other much bigger issues I had with some of FUNi's dub, particularly other voices I'm not fond of like Schemell's Kaio, and Linda Young's Freeza that Bulma didn't exactly cross my radar. The voice was servicable, and I wasn't really watching the dub anymore that I kinda paid it no mind.

With the release of Kai and the news of her recasting, it gave me reason to actually look back at her voice tho, and yeah, not a fan.

I think she'd do good if she just dropped the "Valley Girl" kinda tone she gives to Bulma... I mean, If I had to critique Bulma's voice that's easily the biggest problem I have with it, so if she took a crack at it without that, I don't see why she couldn't do a good job.

That's still too much.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Tiffany was fine in Dragon ball, the Cell saga and the Buu arc.

Its really only the Season 3 dub where she sounds like a valley girl. Her voice in the Cell saga is much more toned down and she matches Bulma's growth as a mother.

But see, she's SUPPOSED to be annoying in Dragon Ball. She's still a spoiled, pompous, immature, not to mention manipulative brat at that point. Or at least, that's how she was in the early "Hunt for the Dragon Balls" arc, even in the Japanese version. She HAD to be that way, otherwise, Akira wouldn't have been able to make her the butt of so many jokes.

No, seriously, the english Bulna was always too annoying, same as Sean Schemmel to my ears, so I am quite happy for you guys and your new Bulma :D

Sure, her personality is supposed to be a little annoying, but not her voice. I also think you are blowing it out of proportion how bad she was. She's still supposed to be liked by the reader and let's not forget that she was the one that began looking for the DBs on her own. No one was forcing her to tag along. She's adventurous.

To quote a short post I made a couple years back...
A couple years back, I wrote:While Vollmer can get over-the-top, she just needs a good director to set her straight. I clearly remember the re-dub of the Fake Namek episodes (directed by Mike McFarland) in which Tiffany Vollmer and Sonny Strait just used their normal voices (what a concept!) and Bulma in particular sounded fantastic. No shouting, no valley-girl. I remember being so impressed that I actually checked the credits to see who directed her. That's how I wish the character had been played the whole time.
I still feel the same. I prefer Vollmer's voice for Bulma. But Rial's cool, too.

Her acting is better in DB since she tones down a lot of her valley girl-ness, but I don't think she's a good actress regardless of the director or script, nor is she a good fit for Bulma, especially teenage Bulma.

Miss her about as much as Linda Young. As in, not at all. I didn't even notice the change at first, but picked up on the differences later. Monical Rial is simply a much better Bulma. She's a better actor, and doesn't sound like a typical valley girl. She's very good. Though Chris Ayres still takes the cake of saving a role.

That's it right there. All the voice changes were solid. Too bad they couldn't fix "King Kai" as well. Just not the right voice for that character.

Like others have said Vollmer was far from perfect but I think she was pretty good in the Buu Saga and Z redub.
The valley girl inflection was pretty much gone after Freeza Saga anyway. Though I do love Rial's voice too. One of the few voices in DB I like perfectly fine as either actress
