Does the "Tri Bream" shorten the lifespan of the user?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Does the "Tri Bream" shorten the lifespan of the user?

I've always thought that the technique drains your ki (duh) and if you deplete it you can die. Would make no sense for Tien to use the attack that often if he actually lost days of weeks of his life using it. Unless he was thinking the Dragon Balls could revive him anyway. So how does it work?

From my recollection, I believe overuse just strains him to the point of death. I don't think it specifically shortens his lifespan.

Roshi, when Tenshinhan was first preparing to use it against Goku, specifically states that it does.
Kame-sennin: “It’s a technique that holds outrageous destructive power…many levels above even the Kamehameha…However, because of this extreme terribleness, it fiercely depletes one’s own energy, and they say people have even died from it…Even if one doesn’t die, one’s lifespan will undoubtedly be shortened…”
As for what he means by saying that, he might be referring to if the technique were used at full power that moment, and not like shaving years off his life down the line. Given that he's saying it as a follow up to the fact that people have died from the technique, it comes off to me as him saying "If they don't die outright from how much energy they use, it's almost certain that he'd eventually end up dying soon after.

I always interpreted as it draining his life force as well. Probably a dub line, idk.

But it's like this. He drains his ki and then goes beyond that to his life force (aka vital energy reserves) and you use that, you die. Kinda like what Tien did against Nappa.

Tri Bream doesn't shorten the user's lifespan but Tri-Beam/KiKoho does.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
