Need info on the "Z" split for a video.

I am planning on making a video on the Z split in Dragon Ball, and want some help getting any info on Toei's reasoning for that decision, the Japanese fanbase's opinion on that, and any general info about the split you guys may have. I am doing my own research of course, but I'd like for the video to be as thorough as possible, and it doesn't hurt to ask a few others for information that I may miss on my own. Thanks in advance!

Toei decided on it to change the franchise's image.

Toriyama is the one who came up with the name thinking he was close to the end.

Toriyama didn't think it needed to be changed but agreed to it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
