Spot on. This is exactly the problem i have with the Gohan fanbase.

Pretty much this. He's the new George Lucas, intent on trying to ruin his own franchise.
Except nothing about Toriyama's original work, the manga, has changed in the slightest. All 42 volumes are still available for purchase with no retrospective differences. So he's nothing like George Lucas.
I was more referring to the prequels. Making new material that completely misses what made the original great.

I'm not all that big of a Gohan fan, but he has ALWAYS wanted to be able to protect his family. He doesn't LIKE to fight, but instead does it because he has to.

Gohans 'non fighter' status was dictated completely by chi chi and that is a fact, no one can provide proof that he NATURALLY didnt want to fight, especially when his inner fighting nature reared its head during ANY battle in all of dbz, he never missed a fight or training for school, except the buu series which wasnt originally supposed to happen.

His general behavior during the Saiyan war, his refusal to fight Ginyu in Goku's body, and the fight with Cell (he even flat-out said he doesn't like fighting the way his father does). There's no proof he gets off from fighting like Goku does.... not even Goten and Trunks did.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

He doesn't love it like his father, but he clearly comes to enjoy martial arts. As for two of your examples:
- He was a VERY young overprotected child who wasn't allowed near fighting
- He didn't want to hurt his father, I don't see how the Ginyu example proves your point.

Point is... Gohan never had his father's natural inclination to fighting, hate it or love it.

Neither did Goten, at least not to Goku's degree. Goten did enjoy fighting, though, so I do think Chichi's the causal factor here with Gohan.

Whos to say goku and vegeta had 'natural' fighting instincts also? Goku was sent to earth as a child to destroy it, that was forced on him; that was further reinforced when gohan was training with piccolo and gohan turned into the ape and the ship goku came in as a child was projecting the artificial moon and the pre-recorded track was trying to get goku or any saiyan in the area to destroy, "wake up kakkarot, destroy all life forms" over and over again, pretty much flooding his mind with that will to destroy or get active; but if it was saying wake up, then that means he was sleep as a baby would be and at a young age thats when your the most susceptible to be brainwashed, so yeah goku does have the 'natural' instict to fight AS much as he was brainwashed to do so.

Vegeta has an even juicier one, its been long-known that vegeta when he was little and the whole saiyan race when they were overrun by frieza and his armies; he was taken from his father, and forced to fight and conquer by frieza or face Freeza's wrath; you have no proof saiyans in general were naturally fighters before Freeza's takeover of the planet vegeta.

But Gohan theres undeniable proof that as goku and vegeta, he was brainwashed and planned out not by himself; but his mother to be a scholar and thats proven without a doubt in 2 cell saga episodes, 171 Memories of Gohan and episodes 167 or 178 it was stated strongly by chi chi BEFORE gohan was even born that he would be a scholar not a fighter, chi chi before goku left with gohan to the cell games asked goku to promise that gohan wouldnt fight and in the frieza series before gohan got on the ship you saw gohan have to wear all that stupid stuff and all of those books, yeah I'm sure gohan was reading and studying in the frieza series, he even prepared battle gear under the stupid 'non fighter' clothes chi chi gave him.

One last showing that gohan was brainwashed as a child and in general to do with young people in the ages prior to being a teen; if you as a child love your parents and honor them, you will respect them so whatever gohan was told he would respect it; just as easily goku could have won the battle over what gohan would be and he would have taken the fighter route guaranteed. But, lastly to prove that gohan had been held captive to a route of life that he didnt chose on his own is when we first see gohan use his power in the raditz series and when Piccolo takes him to train him, gohan had no earthly idea that his power level was 710 or when his emotions took over his power level went higher than anyone elses at the time to be the only one to damage raditz and he didnt even know he damaged raditz. And later when Piccolo was training gohan he told gohan, "you may not know this but you have an enormous power hidden within you, the objective of our training is to teach you how to control your power" and gohan replied, "my power, what do you mean?" that alone should be enough to show you that up til that point gohan was completely oblivious to anything about himself having power, i wonder why that is.

Goku forgot his brainwashing the moment he hit his head and well after Gohan's death, Goku continued to train. Nothing was forced on him.

Gohan was never brainwashed.

Gohan was never brainwashed.
It was still in gokus head to fight, goku was doing jack squat to do with fighting when he found bulma, then started hunting dragon balls; and roshi taught him too fight he had no self-will to fight.

You on the other hand cant refute anything I've said about gohans upbringing to say gohan in his natural born self is NOT a fighter by anything in the manga, even toriyamas logic as gohan being a non fighter makes absolutely 0 sense.

He was useful in the first arc and defeated Invisible Man, thanks to Bulma's tits. That's it.

I know it was filler, but he kicked Recoome's ass too, someone that rekt Vegeta. Then he beat up Olibu too. lol

Yeah, Yamcha's VA asked Toei if they can make him look good in filler.

To be honest, I don't think so. I don't think he would hate any of his characters, but he does leave some in the past to move on with the more important characters. Since the start of DBZ, Yamcha basically dug his own grave, so that's disappointing, but I'm pretty shocked that Gohan's character is so disposable in Super, even after all that character development in the past decade or two. The only explanation logical is that Toriyama believes that Gohan and Yamcha aren't interesting anymore, so he throws them to the side. I really hope this doesn't lower the popularity of Gohan, since now this basically makes Vegeta and Goku the only Z-Fighters that get to do anything anymore, because supposedly they're the most "important". Personally, I'd like to see a bit of variation in the fights so they don't get too bland.
Trunks: These androids are ruthless, they delight in causing pain and chaos.
Living on Earth in my time is like living in a nightmare. Always running and hiding and looking for a way out.

Trunks: I can't find hope in the present, but if I change the past can I find hope for the future?

Android 18: Ugh! I hate you!
Trunks: You hate the fact that you're powerless to stop me. That you're completely outmatched. Well imagine feeling what you do now all of the time like the people of this planet do. Fools! How do you think my master Gohan felt when you ganged up on him in the rain and he had no way out? Well, now it's your turn, I hope you enjoy it.

Trunks: Gohan, why'd you have to do it, why'd you have to leave me? It's not fair! Oh gosh no... what did they do to you Gohan? You were my best friend, you were everything to me... everything! This just isn't fair! Gohan, Gohan, GOHAN!

That's a combination of his genes and his grandfather teaching him. It wasn't his conditioning. And he may not have been fighting, but he was training even after Gohan died. Roshi didn't teach him to fight, he increased his strength and endurance. Where'd you get the silly idea that Goku had no self will to fight?

I didn't think they could get away with such a thing in children's shows anymore. They weren't even in the same place--Vegeta just tells Bulma he's going out and sneaks into both of their houses. It really shocked me that Toriyama would write something like that.
This was definitely the best response.
