I don't see a problem with debating the artstyle and the visual choices that are made, when people know what they're talking about, obviously.
The problem is that most of the time these people don't have any idea.

When you back up those comparisons with arguments and when you know what to point out they're pretty valid. Posting them just because "hehe Super sucks" can get repetitive, yeah.
FortuneSSJ wrote: I just ignore these comparisons, because their purpose is obvious. Nothing good comes from being stuck in the past.
People were begging so long for a new Dragon Ball series, they finally have it. Now time to bitch about it.
The fact that people wanted a new series doesn't mean that we must swallow every thing that Toei throw at us.
Yeah, it's brand new content, but it's quality lefts too much to be desire because Toei's poor decisions. It's not being stuck in the past, it's just that when you compare it to it's predecessor you can crearly note points that were superior 20 years ago.

Modern, weekly anime can look good. In fact, yesterday's Naruto episode was AMAZING, better than anything in Super so far and I'd go lenghts to say that in some scenes it was movie quality. That's what happens when you have talented staff and when you give them time and freedom to work (that episode was being made since january)

Crying and complaining is pointless, yeah, but it is healthy for the community to have different opinions, as long as you do it in a respectful and knowledgeable way than can enrich the conversation. Majority of the people that complains -like me- do so because they genuinely enjoy Dragon Ball and would like it to shine with a new light.

I should point out that Naruto Shippuuden Episode #463 was storyboarded, directed, animation supervised and partially key animated by Fujii Toshirou. Fujii is following in the steps of Murata Masahiko, Sessha Gorou and Yamashita Hiroyuki in acting as animation supervisor and director of episodes for greater control. That's the benefit of a longer production schedule. Then again, it also helps when you have four other good animators helping out, too.

Call me weird, but Goku looks pretty wonky in both those shots (the older one has a gargantuan neck, scrunched-up face, and oddly positioned ears), so I'd say the comparison isn't that unfair, in this case.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Episode 46

Animation Supervisor
Yoshitaka Yashima

Key animators
Yashima Yoshitaka Higashide Futoshi Hakamada Yuuji

2nd key animators
Tu Yeong-chaek Yokoyama Miyuki Ishii Tamaki Sato Tomoko Tsukino Mua Sugawara Rieko TAP

I mean, that was actually pretty decent. Hell of a lot better than last week, at least. I'll take it.

Yashima did good. Was expecting this ep to be a lot worse.

I thought the first half the episode had some pretty decent animation, then in the second half, the quality just nosedived. But overall, it was much better than the shit-show we got last week.

The NEP looked fantastic.

I´m surprised that they didn´t "fix" Trunks hair color.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

It was decent, did not expect that. There was a moment which brought memories of the freezer en goku fight though

Holy shit, that was actually a really good fight! With how many on model shots and how much animation there was I'm legitimately surprised Yashima was the only Supervisor. This episode proved to me that he could do some great things if he is given time and animators.

These shots look like Tate.

I'm guessing Tate + someone else (possibly Ishikawa).

Next week could be Tate and ishikawa. Look like ishikawa would be handling most of the future stuff while tate the present earth(I am basing it off the preview).

First shot of Trunks looks like Tate and the Mai shot looks like it could be him as well.

I wonder who did the animation for future trunks bit before the preview. Did not look like the staff of #46 did it. Looked like it was done as a separate thing.
