Favorite Dub Opening?

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
Rock the Dragon is the opening I grew up with, and probably my favorite of the dub openings. It's just so freaking hardcore, and was the perfect way to lead kids into the show back in '96.
The Ocean Dragon Ball opening was also really good. Probably the only one I've seen with a completely different song from the original, that still captures the tone that the original was going for. No easy feat.

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
First one I ever saw and still my favourite by a huge distance. Head Cha La is the only one that comes close.
Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
I like all of them except the GT one when the rap starts, Dragon Soul, and Bruce Faulconer's theme.
favorite: Ocean Dragon Ball

Makafushigi Adventure for the win!!!

"My opinion of Norihito's Sumitomo's new score is... well, very mixed. The stuff that's good is pretty darn good, but the stuff that's bad makes elevator music sound like Jerry freaking Goldsmith." -Kenisu

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
I'm not particularly sure what my favorite themes are, but I have this to say...
The French DB theme was childish, but kind of fit with the earlier sagas (compared to the late sagas). DBZ's french was less mature than the actual series
. "Dragon Ball et Dragon Ball Z: and :March of the Heroes: fit fairly well, although the ladder less so. The french DBGT theme was a rehash of DB et Z.
I wonder, if AB Groupe provided Westwood with a translated version of the first french DBZ theme, what would the lyrics have been?
I'm guessing it would have went like this...
I wonder if people still would have thought the music was too childish xD. I might have...

Dragon Ball!
Gotta find that Dragon Ball!
Don't stop until you got 'em all, the seven magic balls
It's all you gotta do to make your wish come truuuuuuue~
It just screams 80's action adventure comedy, and it works really well as a Dragon Ball opening. It's not as good as Makafushigi obviously, but it's still so good.

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
I'm a sub purist but the french dub opening, the one I grew up with, is so silly that it's great, the lyrics makes no sense whatsoever and the soundtrack sounds like anything but what you can expect to see from the show.

Arabic opening is hilarious.
Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
Definitely the English cover for Mystical Adventure & I'll Give You Romance.
Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
Jimi Tunnell's "Mystical Adventure," Vic Mignogna's "Bit by Bit, You're Charming My Heart," and Sean Schemmel's variant of "Dragon Soul" are my favorites. "Mystical Adventure" in particular is quite special, lyrically. I feel that it really nails what the original song was conveying, without relying on direct translations. That same feeling resonates within me for Daphne Gene's "I'll Give You A Romance" and wouldn't be surprised in the least if they were written by the same person.
"Through the fires of time they've waited patiently,
When all seven balls you find the dragon is set free -
Rising, rising, mesmerizing!
Unbridled ecstasy~
Radiant and shining, hidden somewhere in the field,
Luminous and blinding with your desire fulfilled -
Ageless, timeless!
What you'll see is beyond belief~!
Let's TRY TRY TRY - look high and low!
Search the skies and the seas below...
Let's TRY TRY TRY - seize the day!
And make new friends along the way!"
Damn. That's Dragon Ball, baby.

Rock the Dragon, definitely.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp5EuZ4A6w0
It was done by Shuki Levy, who did the theme songs for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the Mysterious Cities of Gold and so many other cartoons with awesome theme tracks.

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
Speaking of dub openings, does anybody know if instrumental tracks for Funis versions of the DB and DBGT opening and endings exist? If so, leave a link to it.
For covers, Rustu Machine Gun and the short Vic Mignoga version of dragon soul, nostalgia from 4kids and their blue popos.

I'm sorry to bother you pal, but I will take a chance and assume you mean you grew up with Vortexx and Toonzai...if you did, THAT'S AWESOME. I always wanted to find someone who grew up with those broadcasts.

Re: Favorite Dub Opening?
They were both produced by Carl Finch, if I had to guess he did the lyrical adaptations as well.Lunaar wrote:Jimi Tunnell's "Mystical Adventure," Vic Mignogna's "Bit by Bit, You're Charming My Heart," and Sean Schemmel's variant of "Dragon Soul" are my favorites. As far as my favorite dubbed songs go:
English Mystical Adventure (FUNimation)
German Cha-La Head Cha La
Brazilian Portuguese Dragon Soul
English/Brazilian Dan Dan
(Not Official ones):
Mark de Groot [JorporxX]'s English Chozetsu Dynamic and Kuu Zen Zetsu Go
Rage Infinty's English Hero ~A Song of Hope~
Yuri Fox's Latino Spanish Hero ~A Song of Hope~
I'll add more official and unofficial ones as I think of more.

Growing up it was Rock the Dragon.
Now it's Dragon Soul.
