Does anyone find post-Trunks Bulma annoying?
Bulma is Goku’s first friend, and perhaps the premier lady of the Dragon Ball saga, but I have never really liked her a lot. I find her to be far too pushy and arrogant.
But I think that in the early years of DB she was fairly okay and appealing. A vain character either makes a major contribution to prove herself, or gets used humorously. And Bulma in DB got a lot of funny moments, mostly with Master Roshi when he was being a lech towards her and her angry reactions.
After Trunks was born, I feel she changed for the worse. She lost her humorous interactions from DB and didn’t really contribute a lot to the story from then on; in effect she became more annoying. I can’t believe Vegeta could put up with her, let alone marry her (though that’s a mystery itself) the way she was.
She made a machine for stopping the Androids, which wasn’t used.
She created Trunks, who did his own thing.
In DBS, she even insulted her own future self who died. (But at least they made fun of her aging and she contributed a time machine to help future Trunks)
Does anyone feel the same way about Bulma?

Bulma has been pushy, arrogant and spoilt since her debut. But that's what's so charming about her. She's has such a very flawed personality but manages to integrate so well with the cast and has such dynamic chemistry with other new characters she may be introduced to. Hell, if there's any characters that's remained consistent since their debut, in terms of characterisation, it's Bulma.

Yea, I mean look at Goku and Vegeta how they've changed. Vegeta does some dancing and has developed an interest in being a house maid. I think the person that is out of character would be Videl, even Chi-Chi and Bulma have at least some characteristics of their old selves.Lord Beerus wrote:Bulma has been pushy, arrogant and spoilt since her debut. I think the Super version of Bulma is one of the best versions of her character we've ever had. Her design is great (especially for a 40 year old), she's smart, funny, she contributes to the plot, and she's used incredibly well.
I'm also real partial to Cell saga Bulma because of how much she did in the series. Finding the time machine, working to fix Android 16, her interactions with Trunks and Vegeta, her becoming a Mom for the first time.
Buu saga Bulma didn't do much, but she was alright.

I don't really see how Videl is OOC. She just settled down because she has a child to take care of.Xeztin wrote:Yea, I mean look at Goku and Vegeta how they've changed. I don't want to get this thread off-topic, but Bulma for example kept her personality and original traits after becoming a mom. Videl still may indeed be the same character a lot of fans fell in love with, but we never see her do anything beside mom/ wife stuff. Having one scene of her being Saiyagirl would change fans' perspective on her "new characterization."Lord Beerus wrote:I don't really see how Videl is OOC. As for post-Trunks Bulma, she was still her usual self in the Cell arc, but became more tame during the Buu arc which I liked. Movie 13 in particular has her acting really mature, while still being true to her personality.
Re: Does anyone find post-Trunks Bulma annoying?
In DBZ Movie 12, Videl blushes and seems excited at the prospect of being a housewife. So, there's that to prove it didn't come completely out of left-field. I'm assuming the issue is that we see her on her downtime more often and she hasn't been working superhero with Gohan recently.

Not really... if anything I find her much less annoying after Trunks especially with her bullshit on Namek. Her shtick beforehand was often grating and at times disturbing.
I was never annoyed with her in the Cell and Boo Sagas.

Re: Does anyone find post-Trunks Bulma annoying?
You know, now that I think about it, I don't think I ever liked Bulma at all. I always found her character annoying and a real buzzkill. She's like the girl at the party sitting in the corner texting and yelling at people. Who could like that? She never seems to like having fun, she's always yelling at someone, she's very self-important. No denying she's a smart one, but besides the Dragon Radar and her ability to learn enough Namekian to fly Kami's old ship, she's never really contributed to anything. Now don't jump on me; I know how important those contributions were, but that doesn't mean that I'm supposed to like her personality. After Trunks, she went from the bratty, bitchy girl to that bratty, bitchy mom that'll try to stick it in your face about how much of a great parent she is.
But if you ask me, she is perfect for Vegeta, who, himself, is a giant tool. But hey, he's badass, so he's forgiven. Bulma -- not so much.

Lol No, no. Why would anyone flame me for my opinion? We're too mature for that. I just personally can't stand Bulma. So what?

Blooma was a great fun character to watch in the early portion of the series thats my favorite version of her. After she married that murderer Vegeta outta nowhere i just lost interest in the character. I still prefer Yamucha/Blooma to Vegeta/Blooma.
In Super not just Blooma every character has been annoying me except for the new ones.

Why? Because it was "out of nowhere"? That really is only an issue if there isn't chemistry. After she married that murderer Vegeta outta nowhere i just lost interest in the character

He might not be saying that he lost interest in her because she married Vegeta out of nowhere; he could be saying that ever since she did, he lost interest in her.
Plus, it's never really stated in the original if they were actually married. Maybe in Super it does, I don't know. But yeah, who could be interested in her character after the Namek? She doesn't do anything. If I said that I lost interest in Chaozu after he blew himself up against Nappa, would that be so crazy? No, because he doesn't do anything after that. After Namek, Bulma's accolades include inconveniencing everyone as she tags along to see Freeza, dragging her infant son to a war zone, creating a genius device to stop the Cyborgs only to not have it be used, creating the Saiyaman suit/watch gizmo thing, and crying that Vegeta blew up a bunch of people. Yeah, while the at least she does something , I don't think it's so bizarre to say that Bulma stopped being interesting after Namek -- incidentally after she "married" Vegeta and had Trunks.

Thank you all for your comments. I'm glad I'm not alone in this sentiment.
It happened in Dragon Ball Super, around episode 49 (A Message from the Future - Goku Black Invades!).Marco Polo wrote:Wait what?DragonBallFoodie wrote:In DBS, she even insulted her own future self who died. People complain that Bulma speaks her mind and is sometimes arrogant/bitchy...yet they complain Super made Videl into a demure sweet housewife.
