Sorry man. At that time, I had recently gotten the VCR from a relative and wanted to use it to record things for fun. My apologies. I'm not really experienced when it comes to recordings besides what my cousins have told me and cable recordings.VegettoEX wrote:As I described in depth above, Beta is superior to VHS.
There's zero reason for you to be recording on any of these dead formats, however. You're creating more work for yourself, archiving an inferior product on inferior technology, and there is no way to further preserve the integrity of that signal beyond your initial analog capture. I'm, quite frankly, flabbergasted that you would even consider this and would urge you to reconsider.

I mean, if it's all for fun... I guess knock yourself out. It's just an incredible amount of work, and as someone who grew up in the 80s at the height of VCR-mania, even I have zero nostalgia for the product nor any desire to work with it in any way ever again!

If you have to record on tape, get a d-vcr, some HQ d-VHS or s-VHS tapes, record digital HD footage in d-VHS mode by connecting the d-VHS to your set top boxes FireWire...

I wasn't mainly gonna record for just Kai though. Like, I was gonna record some stuff that isn't even out that's on Toonami. IIRC, the english dubs for both One Punch Man and Hunter X Hunter haven't even come out but they're premiering on Toonami. I'm hoping that doesn't turn out to be the same situation for the english dub of Boo Kai. I'm mainly just interested in VHS stuff just for the fun of it though. I grew up a 2000s kid so many people my age had a DVD player and not many I know are interested in them. I think they're kinda cool in the same way that people think the Sega Genesis is cool. I'm weird like that I guess.Danfun64 wrote:If you have to record on tape, get a d-vcr, some HQ d-VHS or s-VHS tapes, record digital HD footage in d-VHS mode by connecting the d-VHS to your set top boxes FireWire...

Wow! International Channel. That takes me back. It was the 1st time I watched DBZ in Japanese in 1998. I still have episodes 85-101 on VHS recorded off of International Channel.
You probably got these from the 2nd run of the series since I.C. ran the show from Japan but on their network.
If I recall the series 2nd run ran here on I.C. on Sunday nights at 9/8C. After the series run of DBZ ended in 2003 they began running Dragon Ball GT then after GT the entire Dragon Ball series never aired again.
Good times!

Nah, they do look their age, just a step up from VHS. Those tapes kei has have been phenomenally-preserved though.Vegitasama992 wrote:But when I saw Kei17 Recordings my first thought was he remastered it from VHS Player because I would never say this recording comes from 1986-1987 years.
LOL, someone's gotta buy all those tapes at the flea market. I don't miss VHS though. We had our equipment and tapes from the end of the format (2005) up until I decided it was time to trash ALL our tapes and the one or 2 VCRs we had (about 3 or 4 years ago). Threw it all in bags and dragged it out to the curb. Useless. :P But there's a lot of TV recordings and films unavailable on DVD/BD out there. So that's worth something.Bansho64 wrote: Sorry man. Yep, it's interesting, IC's tapes were apparently pulled straight from Fuji's archive and still had the logo in the corner, "Fuji Fun Time" bumpers, network ID and everything. The prints themselves had film damage in a lot of places, as can be seen. It's also possible Fuji got bad prints from Toei and packaged them specifically for IC. As for IC themselves, a lot of the shows they aired will probably never turn up on American TV again (VOTOMS?!). Same with NGN. The Pearl clips are interesting too.email2003 wrote: You probably got these from the 2nd run of the series since I.C. ran the show from Japan but on their network.
Anyway, great channel; props to you for putting it up Vegitasama. Keep fighting the good fight.

Simple example in differance between Fansub Tape and International Channel. What do you think? International Channel recording colors are more saturated. Btw I used audio source only from Fansub Tape.

Well I like International Channel quality but I've met with opinions such as even Funimation releases got better colors... Audio source from International Channel may not be perfect but there's too huge abyss to comparing to DVD ones in my honest opinion.sangofe wrote:The international channel has so much better quality.Vegitasama992 wrote:Simple example in differance between Fansub Tape and International Channel.
