Are you confusing the audince of DBZ and Doraemon? They're not targeted at same demographics. Same with DBZ and Tokyo Ghoul.Lord Beerus wrote:Yes. It. Was. We don't need to have limbs flying extreme death scenes or anything, but the impact of a tough battle should be visible on the fighters.
I don't think we need something quite as heavy in a kids' show as...

Toyotarō: … I get the feeling I’ve just heard something amazing (laughs). Lord Beerus and Whis turn up in Dragon Ball Super, and have become an unsurpassable wall for Goku and the gang. What do the two of them mean to you?
Toriyama: Well… First off, right now I don’t have any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis.

DBZ and Doraemon don't have the exact same demographic target audience but that doesn't ignore the fact that DBZ was a show aimed at kids and pre-teens.Faisal Shourov wrote:Are you confusing the audince of DBZ and Doraemon? They're not targeted at same demographics. Same with DBZ and Tokyo Ghoul.

I don't see why we cant have that level again. It's tame compared to other shonen like One PieceAlruneia wrote:Well, obviously. We don't need to have limbs flying extreme death scenes or anything, but the impact of a tough battle should be visible on the fighters.

Re: Should Super Involve battle-damage?
There's no reason not to do it. If the battle calls for it, it just serves to make it better by emphasizing the toughness of it. And the blood should almost be imperative. I'm not talking gore here, but here and there when it makes sense. Hit kicking Vegeta's ass was so satisfying to watch and the little amount of blood made it feel real, something that was really lacking up to then.

No, DBZ is aimed at pre-teen upto adults. Adults (18+) belong to seinen demographic, DBZ is shounen.Lord Beerus wrote:DBZ and Doraemon don't have the exact same demographic target audience but that doesn't ignore the fact that DBZ was a show aimed at kids and pre-teens.Faisal Shourov wrote:Are you confusing the audince of DBZ and Doraemon? I know that DBZ is a shonen. But you should then know the the demographic for shonen anime/manga doesn't include adults at all. It's children, typically boys, from elementary school, ages 4–11, up until the very latest age of 15. That's the definition by law in Japan.Faisal Shourov wrote:No, DBZ is aimed at pre-teen upto adults. We had a bit of battle damage here, even when it wasn't important at the time could be the only time we will see serious damage to the RoF outfits.

Goku is already battle damaged in the head in Super.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Does the Beerus in Monaka outfit count, cause they tear it apart

Does Gohan's tracksuit having holes in it from Frieza count as battle damage? Also Don't forget about the hole Piccolo had in his Gi after his fight with Frost.

It's not about having damage per say, just damage that's meaningful and emphasized for dramatic effect. Like Akame Ga Kill which has lots of gore but they have dramatic value.Quantum-Kakarrotto wrote:Does Gohan's tracksuit having holes in it from Frieza count as battle damage? Yeah, I know what you mean. That's one thing I miss having in the series when you see these characters receive battle damage and you can just see how great and how much scale a fight would be. Super so far has had none of that, and barely any in my honest opinion.Faisal Shourov wrote:It's not about having damage per say, just damage that's meaningful and emphasized for dramatic effect. Yes, it should. Battle damage makes the fights feel better.
He has officially brain damage since the Saiyan arc, literally.fadeddreams5 wrote:Goku is already battle damaged in the head in Super.

Re: Should Super Involve battle-damage?
Only battle damage in Super was when Beerus stabbed Goku in the heart (which was dramatic). But as we have all watched the BoG movie before, we knew Goku wouldn't die (not that it matters since death is meaningless in Dragon Ball)Quantum-Kakarrotto wrote: Yeah, I know what you mean. Ironic how the Dragon Balls which the show is named after is responsible for killing any suspense or thrill we could get now. Fights are only good when they matter for something.

Well, Goku's clothes/GI were ripped and battle damaged in his battle against Beerus in the BOG arc when he was holding off against Beerus' energy sphere and when Goku got stabbed by Beerus.
