Nah, I will too. Part of the appeal of these boxsets is the that for the first time you can own the series from start to finish and I plan to do that.Rory wrote:Once again, I s'pose I'm of the minority who'll be buying all of these boxsets from start to finish. Aheheheh..

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

You're not alone. I, along with millions of other people are still going to buy the sets. They look gorgeous on my TV; the colors, image etc is just lightyears ahead of what I'm used to. It could be because my TV isn'tRory wrote:Once again, I s'pose I'm of the minority who'll be buying all of these boxsets from start to finish. Aheheheh..
very recent but I'm not too tech savy. The artifacts are very annoying though and the loss in image detail is noticable in some scenes but very rarely.
I wonder if they'll remaster the specials as well....

I didn't get the first season (I have a bunch of the UUE's) but I may possibly get this one depending on if the eps I started watching when I first got into the show ended up on this box instead of the Freeza one.
(Yes, I would be buying the box set for nostalgia. Also the fact that I own a mere 3 dvds from the entire Freeza saga--I include all planet Namek related episodes in that saga--is pretty much a big factor in me wanting it. )
Who knows, maybe by seasons three and four they'll have decided to remove the black bars.
(Wishful thinking, but I can hope. XD )

I still haven't got Season 1 yet (lack of money...grr), and I may not purchase Season 2 for the same reason. Still, I'm hoping it's a good one =)
Nah, they said on the 5 minute feature that they telecined it in 16:9. Which basically means we're fucked and that 4:3 DBZ is dead.Who knows, maybe by seasons three and four they'll have decided to remove the black bars.

A documentary on the remastering, creditless intros and outros, another 'trailer' type thing about the remastering, and other FUNimation anime trailers.Payne222 wrote:Did they have any in the last one?Snail wrote:Let's hope that the fans will receive better special features on the set this time around.
Ahh, I see. Not really great special features...for me at least. Thanks!Rory wrote:A documentary on the remastering, creditless intros and outros, another 'trailer' type thing about the remastering, and other FUNimation anime trailers.Payne222 wrote:Did they have any in the last one?Snail wrote:Let's hope that the fans will receive better special features on the set this time around.

As I've said in previous posts, for nostalgia, you may have to get both seasons 2 and 3 to fulfill your wishes. Season 2 does cover the entire Namek saga, as well as the "Captain Ginyu Saga" episodes. Definitely, if you wanna see Sabat impersonating Drummond to his best extent, those episodes are must-watch. Season 3 will start up from the episode where Porunga is already summoned.Chuquita wrote:I didn't get the first season (I have a bunch of the UUE's) but I may possibly get this one depending on if the eps I started watching when I first got into the show ended up on this box instead of the Freeza one.

There's always Ultimate Uncut volume 1 or Dead Zone's redub release, the first of which has interviews with Schemmel and Sabat and the second has a commentary. Funny how those releases seem to have much better extras than the "definitive, ultra meant-to-be-seen" season 1. I was actually really pulling for that Goku Vs. Vegeta featurette to be brought over to season 1 since it's actually a decent watch and relevant with the latter episodes of the set, but sadly it didn't make it. Come to think of it, season 1 does seem to rid itself of the Ultimate Uncut image as much as possible, heck the title cards no longer have that odd looking red streak and there're no alternate angles for the dub w/t televised music track.PythonMonty504 wrote:I hope for the next dvd set they'll put in some commentarys (probably won't). If anything, I would love a featurette on the VAs revisitng the series and redubbing it.

I'd love to see those on the Season DVD's.

As I pointed out, yes there is. On Ultimate Uncut volume 1, as well as Ultimate Uncut volume 3, there's a "Goku Vs. Vegeta" featurette that runs for nearly a half-hour interviewing Schemmel and Sabat about their thoughts on the characters of Goku and Vegeta, the series as a whole, and how voice acting has changed their lives. There're also interview segments cut in of an anime magazine writer named Rob Bricken and many random DBZ "fans" at a couple conventions (and some stock market guy). It's a pretty decent watch for those interested in what the main VAs go through and how much they respect their roles, also need I say more when Schemmel and Sabat start playing off each other in-character; classic! A real shame it wasn't brought over to season 1, would've fit in so well.Rory wrote:Wasn't there an interview with Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat in the Ultimate Uncut DVD's?
