Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
After finally getting caught back up after falling behind again, I've got to say that this arc has more than lived up to my expectations so far. Every time we think we kind of have something figured out, it turns out we're not quite right yet - that's the feeling the old stuff always felt like it had going for it (or at least, the feeling it seemed like it must have had for people that couldn't just read up all about developments online...so not me or fans that came along at the same time I did), and it's been so great to have that general feeling of mystery back.

I'm wondering how much of Gokû's knowledge or possibly memories he has and where he got the information he has on Gokû, Vegeta, and Beerus. I hope they explain in-universe why he's got different eyes than Gokû has.

I mean, he only visited Gohan. Everyone else was already there.Anime Kitten wrote:I just wish the term wasn't so overused, since we don't actually know what is or isn't in the outline. Plus, it almost certainly wasn't in Toriyama's outline.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

That's in the manga, and unless you have seen Toriyama's outline, you can't know what is or isn't in his outline outside what is in both the anime and manga. Besides, Episode 52 wasn't really filler since we got real character development and insight into Future Trunks, so it was just mindless fluff.kinisking wrote: I mean, he only visited Gohan. Who did he visit in the manga that wasn't already there? And well, we can at least agree that flashback to Future Gohan most likely wasn't in the outline though right?HeroR wrote:That's in the manga, and unless you have seen Toriyama's outline, you can't know what is or isn't in his outline outside what is in both the anime and manga. Again, that is in the manga where everyone happens to be together because they're celebrating their victory over U6. The manga have already differ from the anime in several key details, and like I said, unless you have seen Toriyama's outline, you don't know if Trunks spent personal time with Gohan.kinisking wrote: Who did he visit in the manga that wasn't already there? I am not going to agree to anything that was or wasn't in the outline because I've never seen it and I'm not going to pretend to know. I can only tell what was most likely in the outline based on the similarities between the manga and anime. Everything else is cherry-picking.

Misunderstood you. Yes, everyone else was there in the manga also. However, Gohan wasn't. What that tells me is that the part about everyone being there is in the outline for sure, but him visiting Gohan wasn't in the manga so it couldn't have been in the outline.HeroR wrote:Again, that is in the manga where everyone happens to be together because they're celebrating their victory over U6. It doesn't mean it couldn't have been. It could just mean it wasn't significant enough to take up space in the manga. No-one here can know what is/isn't in it for sure because neither adaption follows it exactly.kinisking wrote:Misunderstood you. Yes, everyone else was there in the manga also. However, Gohan wasn't. The manga seems to be skipping the Goku vs. Black fight in the present entirely for now. Also characters like Piccolo and Krillin, who were around for a few episodes in the anime, are no where to be seen in the manga at this moment.kinisking wrote:Misunderstood you. That may be a good thing. Seeing Piccolo and Krillin reduced to cleaning up after Goku's battles is just depressing.Kagari wrote:The manga seems to be skipping the Goku vs. Black fight in the present entirely for now. Remember Toriyama is specifically writing for the anime that's the main product a lot of people seem to be forgetting this. Toyo doesn't have time to do everything since he's producing monthly and the anime is miles ahead.kinisking wrote:Misunderstood you. Yes, everyone else was there in the manga also. Or it could have been in the outline. You and nobody of us here knows, so you can't declare anything for sure about what is and isn't in it.kinisking wrote:What that tells me is that the part about everyone being there is in the outline for sure, but him visiting Gohan wasn't in the manga so it couldn't have been in the outline.
They're meant to be the same, just like the rest of his body.Chuquita wrote:I hope they explain in-universe why he's got different eyes than Gokû has.

Black seems to know Goku's techniques, but not all of them. For example, he only recently learned how to sense ki.Chuquita wrote:I'm wondering how much of Gokû's knowledge or possibly memories he has and where he got the information he has on Gokû, Vegeta, and Beerus.
I don't think we need one. Goku, Gohan, and Goten seem to have non-fully outlined eyes to show their purity. Once they become Super Saiyans, which makes them more brutal, their eyes change. Gohan's eyes also changed when he became Ultimate Gohan, and it was noted & shown that Gohan's softness from before was gone. So Goku Black, who is evil, wouldn't have the same eyes as Goku.I hope they explain in-universe why he's got different eyes than Gokû has.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

-New Ending-
Well, that's a shame! I love this one and I wonder if we'll ever have another ending with such original visuals.
The vocalist sure seems to have done his homework, but I find Zenkai Power to be the worst ending this franchise ever had, so I'm curious to see what they will pull off.
Same thing for Black and Zamasu as villains. Still soon to say how great villains they are. It takes a single action to turn an interesting villain in a shitty one.
Pein from Naruto is the best example of this.

Fake or not, this is why i won't drop my guard until the arc ends. I'm loving the arc so far, everyone from the staff is doing a great job, but they can still screw up in the end.Psykomatik wrote:TV Guides only give the first part of the title. This is all the episode title.
Seems fake to me, we can read "Enter Zen-chan! Erase Black!", the arc is already over?

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

It says Rose is Goku Black's version of Super Saiyajin and that it rivals Blue. It also points out that present and future Zamasu have different Potaras.Grimlock wrote:Is there something interesting here?

I can't remember, but did Black choose to have that hair colour he has? I don't remember if he said that. If so, I get familiar vibes of Freeza saying he picked the golden colour. Or perhaps it's just some alternate universe difference thing maybe.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

He kind of words it as though he invented Super Saiyan Rose ala Golden Freeza. Could just be his presence in Goku's body corrupting the transformation as Baby did for Vegeta.dbzfan7 wrote:I can't remember, but did Black choose to have that hair colour he has? When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

From what I recall, Goku Black's remark with Super Saiyan Rosé related to its naming. Future Trunks did notice the color though. Clarity would be welcome.
