Only streetpass. The upcoming online update seems to have battling and trading techniques/attacks, but not characters.

Well, the DBS manga is on the Viz website in English, and they showed them a couple weeks ago

I just learned something interesting thanks to Jaigo and Perfect Z on Gamefaqs.

According to this list, there are actually 173 game original characters, and it seems the 10 metamoran fusions are counted on the roster despite not being selectable.

Just to make sure, I double-checked and here's a pic of a metamoran fusion on the roster:


With that out of the way, I had to re-re-calculate the game's amount of fusions with this new info.

98 DB characters, 173 game original characters, 10 metamoran fusions, 48 DB EX fusions and 4 QR code fusions. Thats 333 slots out of 1013, which means that if you subtract that plus the streetpass slot from the whole roster, you'll get 679 OC EX fusions. To go even further, that'd mean there's 270 CAC EX fusions because of the extra characters. Now to go into the bulk, the streetpass fusions...

With 270 characters to work with instead of 170 (sans the CAC) my formula had to be reworked to follow this new info. The updated formula is as follows:

(((270 * 270) - 270) * 2) = 145260 STREETPASS FUSIONS

Add that to the 10 metamoran fusions, 48 DB EX fusions, 4 QR code fusions, 679 OC EX fusions, 270 CAC EX fusions and 9 Maxi-Fusions, and the amount of possible fusions in DBF is...

146280 POSSIBLE FUSIONS!!!

So yeah, this game keeps messing with my head with how much it actually has. With 271 unique characters and that many fusions, this game has 144 times the amount of content than we originally thought!

I'm not sure yet, as my formula only includes the 270 non-fused characters. I have not seen anyone use any of the metamoran or EX fusions for streetpass, so it's an assumption that they don't count. Though, if someone here has the game, check if you can select a fusion for streetpass, this information is important.

Is it crazy that I'm as hyped for this game just as much as XV2? Lol. Anyway, with all of these characters and possible fusions, I'm quite surprised they left some folks of the roster like Bojack and Adroid 13. But I guess those characters aren't that popular.

I'm actually right there with you, though the fusions ironically are only a small part of my excitement (mostly due to how horrible some of those designs are no doubt gonna be). I'm just sitting here in disbelief that we're getting another RPG after all this time, and it's actually coming over too - and to top it all off, like the aforementioned Xenoverse, it's doing kinda it's own thing with the story rather than being a flat-out followthrough of the same old, same old story we know so well by now.

No, only base Goku and base Vegeta.

There is not metamoran SSJB Gogeta, or an EX SSJB Gogeta for that matter. But, it is possible to fuse SSJB Goku and SSJB Vegeta via streetpass, and you'll get the following two appearances depending on who your streetpass character is:
