Do you prefer Frost's appearance in the manga or anime?
Basically as the title says, which do you prefer? I honestly didn't think Toyotaro and Toei would differ on character designs, plot and such were understandable but changing character designs was something strange to me. I think I prefer the anime, but I'm not sure if one would say he's from the Freeza race at first glance, that may have been why Toyotaro changed it a bit.

Re: Do you prefer Frost's appearance in the manga or anime?
Anime. It gives him a more distinct facial structure compared to Freeza, while stil making it abundantly clear that he's of the same species. We don't expect human characters to all look very similar, so why should it be any different with any other race? I like how his head curves above the "ears" or whatever those things on the sides are, and the higher, smaller eyes.
Didn't Toyotaro change the design to reflect the anime better in latter chapters? Or am I remembering that wrong?

Manga, in the anime he visually looks to have designs too similar to hit for my taste. Also not a fan that all the characters in the anime generally have the same size and shape eyes. That's how I use to draw all my DBZ characters when I was like 10.

Anime...
In manga Frost is pratically Freeza...And his eyes aren't aligned

They are the same design. After that first reveal, even Toyotaro reverted to the more narrow head-jewel thing. There are still some shots in both the manga and anime where he has a Freeza head, but those are probably just mistakes. Outside of those few inconsistencies between artwork, the design is closer to what we see in the anime shot you picked, rather than the manga one and that's also what other material is using (specifically Heroes and Dokkan Battle).

He would have looked cool in the Anime, but unfortunately he was drew off-model most of the times.
I liked that shot tho

Is the same design, however i prefer how Toyotarō drew it in the spin-off manga.

The differences that jump out to me are mostly the eyes, but also the purple sphere on the head, and how the purple piece on the chest is more rounder compared to it being squared in the anime. The head thing is corrected in the later portions of chapter 10 though.YonedgeHP wrote:Is the same design, however i prefer how Toyotarō drew it in the spin-off manga.

The anime version. Frost looks like a carbon copy of Freeza in the manga, while in the anime, despite the similarities, there are enough small difference to distinguish him from Final Form Freeza.

The manga at first glance, but the anime upon further observation. As others have said, he looks like a clone of Freeza in the manga, whereas the anime provides a sense of uniqueness. Of course, you can take this from someone who doesn't keep up with the manga, and as such, I wouldn't know if he is drawn on-model to the anime later on.
Re: Do you prefer Frost's appearance in the manga or anime?
Again, just so people are not confused, the design, outside of that one introductory panel in the manga, where Frost is Freezafied, is the same. Toyotaro draws him the same as the anime.
. It's just that he tends to draw the characters looking younger and since he is just one artist, the drawings are a little more consistent. The only difference is that the anime gives Frost a brow, between his eyes and ears. However, the anime tends to do that with more characters, not just Frost, while Toyotaro tends to keep everybody slimmer, so it's just a difference between the artists; styles, not a design one.
Neither in the manga, nor the anime, does Frost look too much like Freeza, except the panel the OP posted and a shot in the anime where Frost is sitting knocked out with his team, where he is drawn with the wrong head.

I see the similarities, though Toyotarou still has Frost's eyes closer to Freeza. As you mentioned, the brow is also missing.
Re: Do you prefer Frost's appearance in the manga or anime?
I gotta go with the manga on this one.

He really doesn't. If anything, the anime is, though in both the eye thickness is inconsistent, depending if it's a close-up or a wide-shot, while Freeza is generally drawn with some "eyeliner" (so to speak) the majority of the time.Anime Kitten wrote:I see the similarities, though Toyotarou still has Frost's eyes closer to Freeza. For reference, that's how Freeza looks in Super and how Toyotaro draws Freeza.

I too prefer the anime, since I'm one of the weird cases who isn't too fond of the manga and the Frost part of it has kinda been the point where I turned around on it, but at the same time I don't want to be unfair to Toyotaro just because I dislike his work. This is such a case. Manga Frost looks just as different from Anime Frost as Manga Goku does from Anime Goku and so on. It's just the way the guy draws and he certainly is following the design of Frost, which differs from Freeza's.

I prefer Frost in the manga the most of the time, there is different drawers in the anime so the drawings are sometimes a bit différent.

Manga, Frost felt way more expressive in the manga and I like how Toyotaro made him slightly more muscular than Freeza especially his thighs.

Manga, mainly because I dislike the general art/animation for Super anime. The fact his character is better in the manga than the anime is a plus too.

Got to go with the manga version. I prefer how Toyotaro art styles than the artists at Toei.
