Wait a minute... Will this be the premiere of the Toonami Asia dub?

Will Toei make money with this??? and have they realized that Dragonbal Super is popular per streaming or Funimation??
Re: Dragon Ball Super to Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Daisuki, AnimeLab
For the JSAT special, they based it on the biz manga, so let's hope that this simulcast does NOT have Light if Death, Hercule or Djinn BooMajinMan wrote:Are you sure? It should be Mankankosappo, Mr. Satan, and Majin Boo

So this basically confirms that this shows probably gonna have another few arcs because they wouldnt do a simulcast if the show was going to stop anytime soon as far as I'm concerned so thats good news.

Jeez, all the exciting things would happen the week I'm all over the place. Joy.
I'm hoping that Super's will be good, but I'm very apprehensive when Toei are behind a translation. They haven't exactly gotten off to the best start by having a typo in the episode title featured in the press release.
Something that will be interesting to see is how Funimation will handle the home release. Once One Piece received its simulcast, Funi began using Toei's translations on their home releases, with only minor clean-up.
I hope this doesn't mark the end of Steve Simmons translating for Dragon Ball. While not 100% perfect, he definitely did the series justice on the whole. It's always nice when you have a fan of the series translating.
I guess we'll wait and see who ends up credited come Saturday.

As a side-note for those in Europe. There are various browser extensions out there designed specifically for bypassing region locking on the various anime sites listed. I'm not going to name names or endorse anything, but know that you're not out of luck.
While the use of these things are almost certainly a grey area because of licensing agreements, they're worth investigating. You don't have to resort to piracy. Please do your best to support the official release.
Can't speak for Saint Seiya, but Sailor Moon Crystal's were notoriously poor. One Piece's are much better. Nothing outright wrong on the whole, but a lot of unnaturally phrased lines and odd naming conventions.Araki wrote:IIRC Toei provided the subs for Saint Seiya Soul of Gold and Sailor Moon Crystal, and they were just fine.

Hmm, from what I understand the Chinese BD of Battle of Gods actually had subtitles by Simmons. So Toei has outsourced their translations to FUNi before. With any luck they'll do the same here. I would much rather see Simmons or Mandelin handle the translations for this rather than Toei doing it themselves. Out of all the official Toeilations I've seen, One Piece has fared the best but even there, the official subs are hardly what I'd consider "good".
In any case, this is exciting news as it means we will finally be rid of the constant spread of misinformation from speedsubs! As there is literally no way speedsubbers will be able to put out anything before the official subs are already up.

While I'm still absolutely baffled as to why Toei didn't start a simulcast from day 1, I guess it's better late than never. Maybe this'll be my excuse to catch up.

I am pleasantly pleased by this pleasing news from the pleasing website known as Crunchyroll. Please continue to please me as your relationship with Toei Animation continues, hopefully into an even more pleasing relationship capable of the pleasing production of OVAs and other pleasing spin-off material. Please.

So you're saying the JSAT special has official subs? Which release has them, how rare is it, and what to look for on ebay if necessary?simtek34 wrote:For the JSAT special, they based it on the biz manga, so let's hope that this simulcast does NOT have Light if Death, Hercule or Djinn BooMajinMan wrote:Are you sure? When the special was put online for worldwide view it had English subtitles. This is the only official release with said subtitles.Danfun64 wrote:So you're saying the JSAT special has official subs? Re: Dragon Ball Super to Simulcast on Crunchyroll, Daisuki, AnimeLab
Just to note, there is a slight delay between the Japanese TV broadcast of a show and the simulcast VOD popping up on Crunchyroll (e.g. One Piece airs at 9:30 AM JST, which would be 8:30 PM EDT, but the official release doesn't go up until 10:00 PM EDT).
I assume that's probably still a fair bit faster than most speedsubs, but people will still have to wait just a little bit if they want to discuss things with appropriate context.

It was a thing they put up at the time, it's long gone now (as far as it being in a legal capacity anyway).Danfun64 wrote:...where?JulieYBM wrote: When the special was put online for worldwide view it had English subtitles. This is the only official release with said subtitles.
