State-side, uncensored Sailor Moon has a 15+ rating.

caejones, I know what Tommy wanted to ask Lil'!!! :o

Yeah, America is messed up, I've seen plenty of nudity in American cartoons old and new. It's not really the kids, it's the complaining parents who whine and cry about stuff that they grew up on. There are a lot of things in Loony Tunes, etc. that would be really questionable today.

^But Sailor can kind of be seen as erotic....like those anime about all girl schools....

If you think of Sailor Moon and the likes of Azumanga Daiou as erotic you really have an issue or two. >.>;;

XD But that's always done in the run-up to a punchline. Not for the sake of giving men boners.

Erotic, no. The tall chick with the glasses is hot, though.

Unless you are the age of the characters.

At that age almost anything and everything is erotic for some people though. XD

I hope it's not a problem that I bump this thread, but...

Shonen indeed refers to boys, but are you sure this stops at age 12?
Yes, then you're in 十代 or teens, also known as 'teenager'.
I was reading wikipedia and here are the types of manga I could find:

Shōnen-intended for boys
Shōjo—intended for girls
Josei—intended for adult women
Seinen—intended for adult men
Kodomo-intended for children

What surprises me is that there is no manga aimed at teenagers (still below the age of 18 ). This makes me want to assume that Shōnen is not only aimed at people below the age of 12 but also people in their teens.

(I could be wrong of course).

Nah, I think you're pretty much right. I mean, most of us here are at least in our late teens, and here we are being fans of DragonBall and, I assume, various other shonen titles.

I guess Seinen is the more intense stuff; the titles that get rated like, 16+ or 17+ in the english version.

Yeah, Seinen doesn't mean 'holy crap, deep emotional stuff', it's just slightly more mature than 'Shonen'.

I always thought of DBZ as a show that can be viewed by all who like action animations/cartoons.

With the kids' show remarks, I've noticed that it seems some shonen series might not be called that and get complaints if they do. For example, of the anime 4Kids showed on Fox, only the ones based on Jump titles, except Ultimate Muscle, I heard complaints about. The other ones, my friends didn't really watch.
