Plus I don't see Schemmel doing an evil Goku voice without it sounding generic as fuck. Black needs to get voiced similar to Ayer's Freeza, soft-spoken and polite.
Outside of Dragon Ball, Schemmel primarily has played Villains. He'll do it just fine and he takes some queues from Nozawa's performance like he has with regular Goku, it'll turn out fine.

I would want Schemmel to manage to keep the elegance in how Black speaks.
Why I use "Geran" instead of "Jiren"

Any chance that we get news on DBS coming to the US during comic-con this week in NY?

Tons that the dub has been announced, how about bringing this thread back up.

I want Todd Haberkorn to voice Cabbe with his Tarble voice.

Probably won't happen because he voices Jaco, I was thinking more someone like Micah Solusod.

I hope they pull a GT and recap the relevant events of the first two arcs, then jump right into Universe 6 as a new episode 1. Insulting? Sure, perhaps, but the first 30-odd episodes were just wheel spinning while they worked out the Universe 6 and Goku Black stuff anyway, so it's not like it's worth saving.

I think Aaron Dismuke might be a decent Cabba or they could go with someone I've never heard of like they did with Hit.

I really, really hope Sean changes his take on Goku Black. What he gave in Xenoverse 2 is not a conversational voice. Also, I feel John Burgmeier would be perfect for Zamasu.

Such a recap could be made by editing the Theatrical Length versions of the BOG and Ressurrection 'F' movies and editing them into episodes, inserting stuff from the Extended versions only when necessary for runtime, and then start with episode 30. I'm sure you can cut out 20 minutes that way while missing almost nothing of importance.

At the same time, I doubt Funi will pull a stunt like that anymore. Perhaps it's for the best...a pity though, the BOG arc was vastly inferior to the movie.

For Schemmel to smooth out his Black voice to something more elegant. SSJ4 voice doesn't work very well with him.

And, also someone relatively new for Cabba. Like Justin Briner or something

Yeah that's part of the reason I think it'll be changed or sound better in the actual show. I believe it was mentioned elsewhere on here that they had no context for Black unlike when they dub the show they'll here Nozawa first then dub said lines.

I would be amazed if Funimation pull a "Lost Episodes" with Super, they seem more interested in consistency and faithfulness nowadays (which I respect them for), and scenes from the first two arcs were in the announcement video.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Ajay linked a tweet in another thread from a few months ago to Sabat saying they were going to release it in order. Sabat also said when the Freeza movie was just announced that Ayres would be coming back! So yeah they're gonna release the show in order. It's not that big deal because the retellings will be over in 2 boxsets and if they air not on Toonami then it'll be over in a few weeks.

I hope Bryce Pappenbrook gets a chance to audition for Cabba i also think he could do the role justice. He plays a lot of teen sounding boys like Kirito, Eren, and Meliodas

I would like Colleen Clinkenbeard to voice Vados. She was great in Space Dandy as Scarlet, I feel a similar sounding performance would be perfect for her.

If it airs on a kids network, for them to add the BoG and R"F" Recap scenes as a summary episode so the kids get caught up to Super

this clip summarizes how i view chris's freeza as :-

Well, at least Chris' Freeza sounds somewhat like LittleKuriboh's Freeza. Unlike Linda Young - her Freeza pretty much epitomises everything I used to hate about the FUNi dub.

I really hope Sean Schemmel can nail down an evil laugh thats not so deep. Nozawa's Goku Black voice was perfect...every time he did something creepy I lost it. I wonder how he's going to do the Ki Blade stab to the hand scene. She nailed that scene. I wish Ed Blaylock (Fuhrer King Bradley from Fullmetal Alchemist) would voice Gowasu, and Zamasu should be voiced by David Kaye (Sesshomaru).

What a great idea, but you've gotta be kidding if you think that's remotely a possibility. It'd be like asking James Earl Jones to voice Shenlong. FUNi just isnt that interested in paying for a good-budget dub, & even in DB's case, it may be a bit too much. Yes, David Kaye did Recoome way back in the Ocean days, but FUNi stopped using established actors after their partnership with Saban for DBZ failed.

Moreover, David Kaye has moved to LA, & unlike Erin Fitzgerald who was similar, he's hit it big in promos & cartoons, which have over 10x the budget (usually justified as they're a bigger industry, aside from DBZ & a handful of other anime). He didnt reprise anything from Canada (prelay or dubbing) after moving to LA entirely in 2007.

Both of these performances are based on Ryusei Nakao's take - which is the closest to who the character actually is. Logistics wouldnt work out, but as 8000 Saiyan said, Charlie Adler would be more similar & yeah, in the Japanese track, Toru Furuya, a youthful-sounding tenor, voices Yamcha, & Nakao is more of a light baritone similar to Adler. So I could see someone saying that Chris doesnt sound intimidating. The point is the characterization is far more accurate (& better-performed, at that!)

If, say, Viz had dubbed DB, I could see Keith Silverstein, Dave Wittenberg (Kefka), or Steven Blum doing it.

I love pointing out to DBZ-dub-only sub fans (including many members of the Kanzenshuu, who also make exceptions for the recent DB dubs), that Schemmel is in fact not an anime dub regular. Sure he worked at 4Kids in NY, but it's mainly for the prelay stuff, & the better-paying commercials in NY. You'll notice that he's only done prelay stuff once moving to LA. Probably because he's very talented & doesnt need anime, I guess? It is interesting that he shares an agency with many other anime VA's, like Steve Blum, Crispin Freeman, Matt Hill, Mona Marshall, Kyle Hebert, JB Blanc (eh, not so much these days), Antonio Del Rio (J-games), & a lot of other small-ish VA's, probably just coincidence tho.
