In my book there is no canon. I just take it all as alternate histories.

Also, Pumbukin is Nappas Uncle and SSJ Forms aren't set multipliers. (YES! I CHOOSE TO DENY THAT ONE PART OF THE DAIZENSHUU :p)

and if DB Super will continue after 28th TB, I'll just assume that Trunks' journey back in time, again changed timeline and that's why the events after 28th TB are different.

Abou DB Minus - I just can't treat this as a canon, even knowing that it was made by Toriyama. Sorry Akira, but this product just sucks. I think it's the worst contribution to the saga ever made. I prefer of course Bardock movie. It's not only far better version of these events, but also it was first, so in my opinion this movie is canon ;)
I think that Toyatoro's DB prequel is 100 times better than "DB Minus". It's funny, and it doesn't contradicts any previous DB stuff + he even tries connect movie events (like Tulles).

I haven't read "Jaco" yet, but I think it could be part of my personal canon ;)
And the last thing - "Neko Majin", the parts of the story that doesn't contradicts DB (like Kuriza, Vegeta etc.) are quiet canon to me (especially chapters with Buu and final chapter with Goku and Uub).

I've mentioned Toyatorou's AF. I know it's non canon fan-manga, and it still isn't part of my personal canon, but since Toyatoro is the author of official DB mangas like DB Super, RoF and Xenoverse 2, I think this fact makes his fan-manga more canon than other fanmades stories.
Who knows, maybe someday he will continue his AF ? Or even connect it somehow to Super? It's funny but it's non-canon DB sequel but made by official DBS co-author :) I'd say it's a Half-canon ;))

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

For me, it's the manga only. Also, the scene where Goku hugs Goten at the Budokai when they first meet.

I can't believe that wasn't in the manga but the arc was really rushed (even though it was 99 chapters) so I shouldn't be surprised.

Toei really outdid themselves with it's anime adaptaion though, longer and better fights and better character moments helped it reach its full potentail which wasn't possible in the manga due to Toriyama probably being really tired of the franchise while writing it.

For me the canon is just:

Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Super
TV Specials

The rest are alternate stories

Although I don't consider any game stuff canon, I could consider XV 2 manga as a canon since it was made by Toyatorou ;) And it doesn't contradicts any DB manga/anime stuff ;)

My Manga canon was the 42 volumes of Dragon Ball (or Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z in these here United States).

My anime canon was always Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z (including the Burdock and Trunks specials), Dragon Ball GT (including the movie).

The movies (including Battle of Gods and Resurrection F) were side stories and Kai was its own separate thing that I never lumped in there.

I have no place for Super yet as I have not seen it, but my new anime canon would have to be Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and then Dragon Ball Super with GT now being the side story.

I don't place the games anywhere either and as great as Xenoverse was, I don't think that it holds any official canon space.

I feel that now, GT has a great opportunity to be capitalized on. Now that GT has pretty much been officially pushed off to the side, it opens the door to get as wild and crazy as you want with it. They could do an entire spin-off based on GT where the fans don't have to worry about continuity or anything. It could actually be in "another universe." If I were Toei, I'd test the waters with that and release some post-GT movies or a mini-series and see how it goes.

I know this is probably impossible but if you haven't spoiled yourself then don't, wait till the dub and watch it without knowing anything cause you'll be very surprised with what you see.

Toriyama or whoever takes over after him could take the basic ideas like the shadow dragons and remake them into completely new arcs that fix GT's issues.

I think really only loose details like "Bardock and Freeza had a bad break up" and "Gohan wins the Cell Games" are what we can know to be canon. These are events that happened very far in the past, and nobody knows the precise details.

The various pieces of storytelling media we see (manga, anime, films, etc) are contemporary (in-universe) recounts of these loosely known events. The narrator's probably a senile Kaio, mixing up details and telling inconsistent tall tales to different batches of students as the years go by.

Oh, I didn't plan on watching it until I bought the Blu-rays. I know I'll end up getting them regardless and 'd rather enjoy my purchase instead of having seen it already.

While Arale exists in Dragon Ball, I don't believe she co-exists as the Arale in Dr. Slump. The main reason being that Dr. Slump takes place in Japan, while Dragon Ball is in the Dragon World, which doesn't feature geography in reality. Of course, that's your personal canon, but it's a detail I'm mindful of whenever I see the two being discussed together.

It's been over 2 and a half years since I put up my canon so with a new show airing and its 4th arc somewhat ending today, I think it's time for an update.

Level 1 canon : The 32 full color volumes.

Level 2 canon :

Bardock the father of Goku.
Dragon Ball (Minus episodes 30-33, 79-83, 127-132 & 149-153)
Dragon Ball Z Kai
The history of Trunks.
Dragon Ball Z Kai : The final chapters (Minus episodes 101&165)
Battle of Gods (Minus Bulma&Vegeta's lines about Tarble).

Level 3 canon : Super (Minus the 1st 14 episodes)

Level 4 canon : Z's original 12 movies (Bio Broly is just a bad dream).

Level 5 canon : GT.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Nothing's really "canon" in DB except for the manga. I think it's more of different continuities.
I am currently following DBS on a weekly basis, so my "personal canon" would probably be this:

Dragon Ball Anime -> Dragon Ball Kai -> Dragon Ball Kai 2014 -> Dragon Ball Super

I have so much respect for your patience  I can't even watch the anime weekly without spoiling myself using leaked episode titles or summaries.
