Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Y'know, there's something I had never even really considered. I HIGHLY doubt this would end up happening - But what if Kai 2.0 doesn't even end up airing on Toonami? What if it indeed stops after Kai 1.0 ends and Kai 2.0 ends up airing on Nick? Or perhaps Kai 2.0 airs on both Nick and Toonami? I say this because Toonami might not even have the TV rights to Kai 2.0 because it might count as a different series than 1.0 (However, I can't see Toonami getting the TV rights to Kai WITHOUT the Buu Saga included in that deal).
Also, it's possible Kai 2.0 might air on Nick before Super ends up airing. I mean, it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that Nick might air both Kai 2.0 and Super considering Nicktoons aired both Kai 1.0 and GT (The situations would parallel each other so well because Kai 1.0 and Kai 2.0 are both part of the Kai brand and GT/Super are both sequel series to Z/Kai). I don't know how CN handled it back in the day, but the Videl/Spopovich scene might be a reason Nick wouldn't want Kai 2.0 though.
Another benefit of airing Kai 2.0 on Nick would be the fact that they can recreate the effect of airing Kai back in 2010 on Nicktoons. Similar to Kai 1.0, Kai 2.0 also recaps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RmIxrL7PYU) its previous series. Kai 1.0 recaps all of Dragon Ball while Kai 2.0 recaps all of Kai 1.0. So, Kai 2.0 would be able to introduce new viewers to the Dragon Ball franchise similar to how Kai 1.0 did. Then, when DB Super starts airing - the newer fans would already be caught up on basically all of Z (because Kai 2.0 recaps all of Z up to the Buu Saga and is also ALL ABOUT the Buu Saga).
However, like many others have stated - Kai is probably better to just be Toonami's thing while Nick (or some other channel) airs Super. However, I wouldn't mind if Nick was able to air Kai 2.0 in addition to Toonami - I just doubt Nick caring about airing the rest of Kai instead of just jumping to Dragon Ball Super. There's also the whole thing about Kyle Hebert telling/teasing fans to watch Kai uncut on Toonami (https://youtu.be/icTqUqhHKQY?t=99), but I have no idea if he was talking about Kai 1.0 or eventually Kai 2.0.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Didn't GT air on Nicktoons after Kai? So for this to be an analogous situation, Super would also have to air on Nick after Kai 2.0 is finished. But I don't think that's likely because Sean Schemmel has stated that Super will premiere in early 2017. And so, because I don't think Nick would air both Kai and Super simultaneously, they probably won't both be on Nick. Super alone might be though with Kai airing on Toonami.
Regarding the rights for Kai 2.0, I think the deal FUNi had with Toonami probably included it. I say that because Toonami's Kai run was announced in May 2014, which is 1 month after Kai 2.0 started airing in Japan. By this point, I'm sure FUNi had acquired the license to Kai 2.0 since it was initially made for the international market anyway. And the proximity of that announcement to Kai 2.0's premiere in Japan seems too close to be coincidence. And besides, if the plan was to air Kai 2.0 on Nicktoons, why would they sit on it for so many years? Instead, I think it's much more likely that they made a deal with Toonami and are just waiting for Kai 1.0's run to end before showing The Final Chapters.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Makes sense. I just think it'd be kind of cool for Kai 2.0 to recap new viewers one last time like Kai 1.0 did before moving on to Dragon Ball Super. Besides, it'd feel kind of nostalgic for the "Kai effect of 2010" to be recreated for a new generation once again (even though it's about time to move on from retelling Z stuff - even though ironically, Super basically does the same thing with the recent Z movies, haha). Only difference is that newer fans would be missing out on actually watching Kai 1.0, but like I said - Kai 2.0 recaps 1.0 (including showing Kid Goku) so it would almost be like newer fans watched ALL OF Z before moving on to Super. It'd also be nice for everyone to understand everything in Super. Also, if Nick aired two episodes each day for fours days a week starting in January/February - They could be done with Kai 2.0 by March/April, which still qualifies as Early 2017. But like you said, I just doubt they'd ever do that and waste their time on Kai instead of Super.thaman91 wrote:Didn't GT air on Nicktoons after Kai? EDIT: I find it funny how we're all assuming (especially me) that Nick might be the kids channel for Dragon Ball Super, but it just seems like the only choice that currently makes sense. There's even precedent for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1x4YelLUKWU
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
According to this tweet, there's going to be something special on Toonami Pre-Flight next week. Could this be It? Although Geekdom said the announcement would be in December for a January premiere, so this is probably not it. Could be something to keep an eye on though if you watch Pre-Flight.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I wouldn't COMPLETELY go by what Geekdom said. He's definitely a trustworthy source, but he's not an official source. As for the "something special" being connected to the Buu Saga, I'll wait until next week to see what it is. I'm done getting excited over nothing. Basically what I'm saying is: I'll believe it when I see it. Still, some are speculating the "something special" will be a replacement series for Kai and what better replacement would be Kai 2.0 (Buu Saga)?thaman91 wrote:According to this tweet, there's going to be something special on Toonami Pre-Flight next week. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I just did some data gathering. Some of us wondered if any cell saga episodes would be delayed due to holidays or marathons but tv guide lists episodes 95 and 96 for each of the following two weeks. They have listed anything after but that is a good sign so far.

So that makes about two weeks then before we might know what goes in that time slotLettuceJUMP wrote:I just did some data gathering. If Toonami's going to make any announcement for it, Final Chapters or otherwise, it'd make sense for it to be on next weeks preflight, so this will probably make my first time watching
Although, The "special announcement" could very well just be the unveiling of the block's new aesthetic too, given the current TIE's plot line
And if Funimation doesn't announce where Super is going within that timeframe or even just the next week or so, it's probably be a safe bet it's not Toonami.
I don't think they'd want TV guide to be where the news breaks
All this, of course, assuming all of December is just standard scheduling like it was last year
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Ok so Pre-flight will be this evening. I don't know if I'll be able to watch. But to anyone who is, please let us know if there's any Final Chapters announcement!

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I'll be tryin to catch it but I have no idea what time it is
I'm still partly sure the "special announcement" is just what the block is going to look like post-Intruder III. The finale airs tomorrow night and as I understand the episodes are either previewed or shown in full there before they go on toonami

It's almost over, and no announcements yet. Also, this is the dullest thing I've ever seen. Two hosts on Dramamine shooting the breeze for an hour.
EDIT: Done. No announcement.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So, uneventful, I see. Seems as if the only thing left to do is wait to see if it airs without announcement.

I think that's what'll happen.Anime Kitten wrote:Seems as if the only thing left to do is wait to see if it airs without announcement.
I could see them having a special preview after 98 for it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Yeah most they'll probably do is a bump advertising New Episodes like they'd do back in the daysintzu wrote:I think that's what'll happen.Anime Kitten wrote:Seems as if the only thing left to do is wait to see if it airs without announcement.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Oh well. Geekdom did hint at an announcement in December so we still have that to cling on to. The funny thing is that if they're really going to go down the route of only "announcing" it as a preview after episode 98, then we should know before that since the television listing should go up about 2 weeks before the premiere.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Once Episode 96 ends, then we will have a concrete answer if it's coming with the 2 week ahead TV guide. Unless they pull a Toonami 2012 and fake the guide.
