Unless they're premiering Super and Funimation hasn't announced it by then, there'd be no reason to

To them and Adult Swim it's just new episodes of an existing show

Looks like they aren't formally announcing Kai 1.0's replacement.
I just hope it is Buu Kai. We've been waiting nearly 4 years, enough is enough.

Can you say 20 days? I've been waiting years for continuation to Kai. So close!

December 11th is two weeks from now. According to the Toonami schedule online, today's episode was Episode 95, and next week (December 4th) Episode 96 is on the schedule, which means that on December 11th, Episode 97 will air. There are 97 (well, 98, actually) episodes in Kai 1.0. Therefore, it is as good as impossible that December 11th will have Episode 1. December 18th/25th is what we're really wondering about.

That is the default episode description when the TV guide is 2 weeks behind live. It's normal, it's happened to me a million times before.

Does anyone think it's possible they have just shelved buu Kai to focus on Super? I know buu arc was completed awhile ago. How much does it actually cost to fun these things per episode? Would it be a colossal waste of money to just shelve it?

Definitely a waste. Sean and a few other big VA's for the series don't live in Texas so FUNi would have to flown them out too on top of regular dubbing costs.

I don't think it's gonna be shelved since Super is not gonna be on Toonami. I'll be very very surprised if it ended up on Toonami first (thinking eventually like Kai it'll end on there but not immediately).

Most likely the 25th
There's no reason to exclude 98 from the count and no reason why it wouldn't air

Anyone think we get a Kai marathon for the Christmas weekend? I still think Buu Kai will start until 2017 but, it would be awesome if they decided to do a marathon of the first 7 or 8 episodes of Buu Kai on Xmas could you imagine the ratings :O

I honestly don't think the ratings would be that good because many people will probably be spending time with their families. That's why they usually show movies or marathons of reruns during the holidays instead of new episodes. It would be nice if they did a marathon like you suggested as a premiere event (maybe call it a "sneak peek"), although with the caveat of reairing the whole thing from episode 99 once the regular schedule resumes in January. It would be a nice treat for the fans while not alienating the casual audience. I doubt such a thing would happen, though. They'll probably just do a Cell arc marathon like they did with Freeza.

Curiously, why is that? Both Kai and GT aired there.
Yeah between power rangers, Yu-Gi-Oh, and their own Avatar series, it's not like they're really opposed to airing anime, anime-esque, or Japan-originating shows in general

Wasn't Kai even their post popular show on Nicktoons for a good while towards the beginning of Cell?
I think MarcFBR explained this somewhere - that Naruto, Dragon Ball, or Pokemon, while they did tremendously in ratings (especially the latter two)...they didnt make the money for Cartoon Network or whoever, that airing their own shows did. FUNi & (I believe, but not sure) Toei & Shueisha (?) took quite a hefty slice of it. Keep in mind that Viz & FUNi own the show & pay (almost nothing, but it's still a factor) for the dub, & CN has to pay *them* millions to air the show, so of course it's far less likely for them to use their own airtime to air the show. If you've ever wondered why video game localizations are bigger than anime localizations?

* It's because the Japanese own the avenues for J-games, whereas Cartoon Network, Disney, & Nick, are all 100% American. There was a time in the 2000's when anime was quite popular, & the reason that shows like Avatar or Ben10 were made is because it's like anime, but we don't have to pay anyone else for the show.

* Avatar's airing is not comparable to a show that was totally made for Japan, & later just sold to a random company who then attempted to sell it to a network it was entirely unintended for. It's just not the same, business-wise.

Not a chance this isn't airing. Considering Toei wouldn't let Mexico dub Super until they finished Kai (as far as to have the episodes totally mixed and ready to air) I can see it being the same for Funi.

We do know everyone (except Sean) recorded for Kai last year when they were also dubbing "F".
So that may have been the reason it took Funi as long as it did to get the rights for Super, as Kai wasn't finished until early this year, and then they needed to mix the audio.

I think we can safely say we are 100% getting it - it's simply a matter of when and how.

Honestly even just a Cell marathon would be pretty nice so long as it Doesn't push back the Buu premier if it's happening

We'll know by then for a fact whether they'll be getting Super or not anyway

TOEI wouldn't want Super to premier on Toonami, and I'm happy with that because if all goes to plan with the Buu saga coming out and Super debuting elsewhere on a kids channel 2017 could be the biggest year in quite some time for dubbed Dragon Ball.

Oh yeah I'm all for the two series airing simultaneously like that
Especially in a situation where Super is accessible to children who watched Kai when Nicktoons and Vortex had it

It could result in a weird situation where the Buu Kai sets end up competing against the Super sets when they're released to bluray though, unless Super airs significantly faster than Buu, but I think Funimation's a stable enough company that it won't affect Either's release

I don't think it will have much effect on the Blu-ray sales honestly. If any section of the fanbase would lose out it will be the fans who have stopped caring about The Final Chapters and only want Super, that was inevitable given the declining hype for Kai since Super was announced, but most of the people who buy Kai 2.0 will also buy Super, I know I will :D (the fact they've had the patience for the former speaks volumes about their dedication to the franchise and its home releases). It also helps that Funimation isn't milking the franchise's home releases every chance they get like they were a few years ago.

As long as Kai airs on Toonami then I guess whatever HV sales it makes will be considered bonus. Super will probably make up for it anyway. They could alternate the releases like Super releases every 3 months and inbetween there we get Kai.

Based on the schedule, we won't really find out until January. Which sucks.
