Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

At this point I'd welcome that. Having them put it all out in 2 sets would be way better than waiting another year for the whole thing to finish on Toonami.Lord Beerus wrote:I know where it's going to go... straight to the DVD and Blu-Ray shelves.DBZ_Lee wrote:If Buu Kai isn't replacing Cell, then I have no idea where it is going to go.

It'd be more like five if they follow their standard "part" release pattern90sDBZ wrote:At this point I'd welcome that. With 14 on the first four and 13 on the last
No idea how they'll handle seasons with that number, unless they actually make new DVDs instead of slapping new labels on the Part DVDs
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Toonami just announced on their Official Facebook page, that JoJo has a marathon on 24/12, then Kai on 31/12.
With this being said, is it safe to assume either they start from episode 1, or go straight into the Buu Arc?.
Apparently 98 is due to air the 17th, then the JoJo marathon on the 24th, what is for sure, is that it seems as though Super won't be taking Kai's current slot.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Do they ever marathon new episodes? I don't think that they do. So that probably means that the marathon will just be Kai 1.0 episodes. And then the Buu episodes will hopefully air sometime in January.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
What they could do, is air the last few Cell Arc episodes again.thaman91 wrote:Do they ever marathon new episodes? I don't think that they do. So that probably means that the marathon will just be Kai 1.0 episodes. And then the Buu episodes will hopefully air sometime in January.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Yeah I hope they do that. It would be the perfect lead-up to the Buu episodes.DBZ_Lee wrote:What they could do, is air the last few Cell Arc episodes again.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Or, do a highlights and air the best episodes from the series or random episodes?

Dammit that pushes it back into the new yearDBZ_Lee wrote:Toonami just announced on their Official Facebook page, that JoJo has a marathon on 24/12, then Kai on 31/12.

We'll know by the time that marathon happens what's going on with Kai then
Granted, It's still cool of them to basically marathon the entire Cell games like that, and its not at all a bad way to celebrate the new year, but I did not anticipate the two weeks of marathons.
Didn't even realize Jojo had aired enough to be marathoned yet

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
That's generally what they do with marathons; they go back however many episodes will fill up a night and air them all in a rowthaman91 wrote:Yeah I hope they do that. It would be the perfect lead-up to the Buu episodes.DBZ_Lee wrote:What they could do, is air the last few Cell Arc episodes again.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
They started Hunter x Hunter off with a marathon. That's probably it. And the faster they get through Kai the sooner they can air Super.

I really don't want them to get superfunrush wrote:They started Hunter x Hunter off with a marathon. That's probably it. And the faster they get through Kai the sooner they can air Super.
Buu aside, those first two arcs will be painful at only one episode a week ever
And then there would never be any reruns save for special occasions
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Haha, I decided to respond to the VERY first post of this thread ONLY because it was posted December 1, 2014. Now, it's December 1, 2016 (as of post). It's been two years since Shane (and us) were hoping we'd finally see Kai's Buu Saga. Let's hope we don't make it to December 1, 2017 without an official announcement regarding Kai's Buu Saga- but with Kai ending on Toonami soon and Super coming early 2017: THINGS MAY FINALLY BE LOOKING UP!ShaneisMC wrote:Seeing as how Funimation is releasing the final season of the original show on bluray this month, does anyone think it likely or possible to see them begin to release the initial parts of the Kai Buu saga in the first or second quarter of 2015, or do you think it more likely for them to wait until the show has completed its TV airing elsewhere in the world and we see a Fall 2015 beginning release? I don't see any reason why they wouldn't go ahead and start early in the year. Even if they were concerned about the tv airing, they obviously release the parts a few months a part at the time, so either way the initial broadcast would certainly be over well before all of the home release was finished being put into stores. Opinions?
Or perhaps do you think that the current Adult Swim run will continue on and it progress through the Buu arc on american television as a part of a single run through of the whole series before we get a home release? That thought just occurred to me as well.

Don't automatically assume that just because they paid for it that there's any guarantee that they're going to release it, FUNimation also paid for the Dragon Box The Movies masters, and we never got those now did we?rs_chaosmaster wrote:Also they paid money for the license which wasn't cheap.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Right, but the whole thing about TV airing is the same thing that CrunchyRoll has taken over now. DBZ is big enough that it can & should air on TV, foreign markets included. It keeps piracy at bay & definitely maintains a decent stream of revenue for the people involved in the process. Ideally, a show as massive as DB would get a televised simuldub. It's just Toei being apathetic, for the most part, that keeps this thing an issue.90sDBZ wrote:At this point I'd welcome that. Toei has the money & proven success of DB (well, an adaptation of it) stateside. Bandai Namco simuldubs their games. This is definitely a lack of care from Toei overall. If they wanted it that bad, they'd pay (not very much, mind you) for the dub, a couple dozen thousand is not a lot for Toei & it's basicly what FUNi would pay for this.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
This is a bit different since they obviously paid dubbing fee's on top to get Kai 2.0 dubbed.superrayman3 wrote:Don't automatically assume that just because they paid for it that there's any guarantee that they're going to release it, FUNimation also paid for the Dragon Box The Movies masters, and we never got those now did we?rs_chaosmaster wrote:Also they paid money for the license which wasn't cheap.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
This marathon seems to be a warm up for the Boo arc which will likely start January 7th.

Yeah I kind of expected that; hopefully the Buu episodes start the following week. But do you have a link to where you found this out?PrinceVegetto wrote:Just found out the marathon on 12/31 will be airing the last few episodes of the Cell arc
