New Dr. Slump Anime/OVA/Movie (What-If)

Post by simtek34 » Sat Dec 03, 2016 10:44 pm

Anybody want a new Dr. Slump animated feature? It starts after the manga with a Re-Animated General Blue fight Then Time-Skips to the future with them reacting to DBZ events with the Cell Games and Arale wanting to fight, but Senbei says NO. Or them running away from Buu and giving their energy. Then their adventures with Ghost Mashirito and MABYE Toriyama input.

I'd rather just get a Dr. Slump remake series that stands on its own and isn't just trying to tie into Dragon Ball too much except for some crossovers every now and then. Also, I think fun episodes like 69 are the closest we're ever going to have Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball's worlds acknowledging each other (BESIDES ORIGINAL DRAGON BALL).

I'd love to see one again.

DBS could be the kick Dr Slump needs to come to the US and be as popular as the other 80s works like Urusei Yatsura and Hokuto no Ken.

If this can lead to FUNimation dubbing the original Dr Slumo series, I'm all for it.

Honestly, I can't BELIEVE FUNi HASN'T dubbed either Dr. Slump series. I honestly figured they'd have at least dubbed the 1997 remake series by now, if anything. Hopefully, DBS will be what Dr. Slump needs to be dubbed. I mean both series, by the way.

Speaking of which, do any of you have an idea for a voice cast for either series?

I don't blame Funi for not wanting to dub the series since DB is a serious action show to the mind of most English viewers. It seemed like the episode was testing the grounds for more Slump though.

We also have to keep in mind that Dr. Slump has a lot of puns and jokes that won't necessarily translate well into a dub. That's probably a huge reason why we don't see it.

I consider Dr Slump to be similar to Osomatsu, another popular 80s anime with gag humor that was Japanese but also easy to follow among Westerners.

If that show could get a revival, then maybe Dr Slump could also manage it.
