How good do you think Chi-Chi's training for Goten was?

Post by DBZAOTA482 » Tue Dec 06, 2016 11:08 pm

It's been stated during the beginning of the Boo Saga that Chi-Chi was the one who taught Goten how to fight but I dunno if it's totally a credible citation for her fighting resume or not. Ignoring the nonsense of Goten attacking her as SSJ the boy was apparently well trained enough to be a useful playmate/sparring partner for Trunks and Gohan.

Not to mention Goten already knew about ki and controlling it even before training with Gohan which may suggest Chi-Chi knows of it as well (not unreasonable considering she's trained in the ways of the Turtle School) then taught it to him. You can say Trunks taught him but Goten never mentions learning anything from Trunks and if he did the boy would probably have learned bukujutsu from him as well.

Do you think it was beneficial to the kid or easily done by someone else?
I'd personally hate for it to be ultimately pointless... especially considering she used to be an exceptional fighter with a considerable power level
Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Honestly, my interpretation is that Goten was mostly self-taught until Gohan started teaching him. Given that he can just go Super Saiyan without trying, it isn't to far of a leap to imagine that Ki control came just as naturally to him, and he was already born ridiculously strong. Chichi probably taught him some of the basics of martial arts, but I can't imagine her really having much involvement in how strong Goten was when he was introduced.

I agree with Daniel SSJ, I don't think Chi Chi had any influence on Goten's power level or strength at all. It was suggested that she taught him the arts as martial artist. Goten's ki manipulation came naturally for him especially considering his constant training with Trunks, as they fought all the time which was stated that Goten and Trunks would always fight each other. Goten's battle power came from training with Trunks and Gohan, and later on Goku.

Yes, it would make sense for Chi-Chi to just teach him the basics. On my opinion, he learns everything else by sparring with Trunks; the fact that Goten had trouble controlling powerful ki attacks (such as his "kameha") and couldn't fly suggests they just sticked with melee combat which, incidently, helped raising Goten's power. It's also possible, although i'm just speculating, that they might have sparred together (or "played together") inside the gravity room ocasionally, although Vegeta had no knowledge about Goten's power whatsoever.

Are you implying that anyone could've taught him... even Mr. Satan? Well, then that really sucks.

Not necessarily. Chichi is a very skilled and powerful martial artist. I just find it doubtful that she was the one who got Goten up to the level that he was at. Heck, it doesn't seem like Vegeta had much to do with Trunks' training until recently, given how surprised he is that his son can already go Super Saiyan.

She must have at least thought him the basic kicks and punches and stance..
I believe he is just that strong from the beginning..
After all what else can chi chi teach him..
She dosen't really know how to power up or ki blast your opponent to oblivion

I don't think she's directly responsible for his powers either but I'm feigning to know that she gave him the game like Muten Roshi did Goku and Krillin.

Goten is naturally powerful and grew at a fast rate because of genetics, while Chi-Chi simply taught him how to fight and probably did a reasonable enough job at it. I don't see why people in this thread view this as a complicated question.
