Non-thread-worthy discussions
Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I think I've finally come to enjoy Mr. Satan's character. At first I hated him for taking Gohan's thunder ( I hate when things like that happen in general) and also for acting like such a coward. But I don't know man, re-reading the Boo saga made me enjoy him a lot. Just re-affirms my opinion had the best version of almost every character.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Does liking Mr. Satan later in the story affect how you feel about him in earlier parts of the story?kinisking wrote:I think I've finally come to enjoy Mr. Satan's character. That and the back story Akira Toriyama gave in an interview definitely made me tolerate him a lot more. He has some moments in the Cell saga that remind me of his boo saga self which makes me appreciate the Cell saga version more. Btw, In my last sentence I was trying to say the boo saga had the best version of most characters.ABED wrote:Does liking Mr. Satan later in the story affect how you feel about him in earlier parts of the story?kinisking wrote:I think I've finally come to enjoy Mr. Satan's character. Anyone know if the UK version of the Kai Season One Blu-Ray still uses the Kenji Yamamoto soundtrack?
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

Best in terms of the most interesting?

Definitely. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Mr. Satan, Goten, Trunks, Videl were all at their peak.ABED wrote:Best in terms of the most interesting?

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
I agree in some cases like Mr. Satan and Trunks from the main timeline (as opposed to Future Trunks), but I think Gohan and Goku are more interesting at different points in the series. The more I think about it, this seems like a discussion that could be its own thread.kinisking wrote:Definitely. Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
To my knowledge, Manga UK released it with the Yamamoto score, yes. I'm not sure if all copies are like that but I distinctly remember that being confirmed long ago.Robo4900 wrote:Anyone know if the UK version of the Kai Season One Blu-Ray still uses the Kenji Yamamoto soundtrack?
90sDBZ claims the original score remained intact. TheWhiz claimed that it eventually stops playing during Season 2. That was a year ago, so it's likely still the case, but I recommend skepticism until you can confirm it with your purchase attempt.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions
Thank you very much. I guess I'll have to get the season discs and then keep an eye out for a deal for Part 4.

Anyone have a shot of Pilaf Arc Bulma in the flashback scene in BoG ? Would really appreciate it.

Was it ever explained why Goku never bothered to grab any Senzu beans before flying off to confront Raditz?

He wasn't thinking about that. He was pissed and he wanted his son back

Is there anything besides the Full-Color releases that implies KK giving its user red eyes?
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

In Toriyama's original colored pages, Super Saiyans would often have red eyes when angry. That probably implies something.ekrolo2 wrote:Is there anything besides the Full-Color releases that implies KK giving its user red eyes?

Really? Did he make any such distinction in the later arcs when it being mastered became possible?Jinzoningen MULE wrote:In Toriyama's original colored pages, Super Saiyans would often have red eyes when angry. Haven't gotten that far yet. There weren't many colored pages in that era from what I've seen, so there's probably nothing too distinct.ekrolo2 wrote:Really? Could be, I honestly don't remember. Not all that interested in checking atm either. I'm sure you could find the colored pages online.Soppa Saia People wrote:Isn't that just for limited color parts ?Jinzoningen MULE wrote:In Toriyama's original colored pages, Super Saiyans would often have red eyes when angry. Jinzoningen MULE wrote:From a narrative standpoint, Kaioshin didn't need names when they were first introduced, they were addressed by their title. The only reason they need names now is because there are so many, and they hold the same positions, only in separate universes. From an in-universe standpoint, they probably do have names, we just don't know them.
Herms' twitter today mentions that this is the case, or at least that they're treating "Shin" as his name now on the DBS website.Sailor Haumea wrote:I get the feeling Universe 7's Eastern Supreme Kai is literally named Shin.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.
